Sorry it's been a few months since I've posted! Here's an update: I'm learning Ableton, and a lot of my production time is going into a class I have this semester. This song is a sneak peak at what I've been working on. I wonder if anyone can guess who it's inspired by? Enjoy!

Here are some things I learned along the way:

- Reference tracks are incredibly useful (why haven't I been using them this whole time?)
- Mixing by isolating frequency bands is helpful
-LFOs can be used in many places

I'm re-releasing this old one. I feel like my mixing skill has gotten better in the year since I started, and I wanted to prove it by remastering one of the first tracks I made. Now with better levels, improved stereo mixing and nicer reverb. Also I just finished a new hard techno track that I'll be releasing soon! Enjoy

Roentgen

For those of you who like to read, I have a lot to say about this one. I have lately been feeling lots of powerful emotions, good and bad. I am terrified about the political situation my country is in. I am concerned for the people of Palestine and Ukraine, and I am also worried about the rise of artificial intelligence, and what its implications are for the future of humanity. All of these things seem to culminate and exacerbate the feeling of getting older, things changing, and life itself being a temporary thing. It is a strange feeling, very powerful, but not wholly a negative one. There is beauty in the passing of time. There is beauty in change. I often feel like myself and the world I live in are on the precipice of an unknown cataclysm, and that my past and history has simply been the "calm before the storm". It is uncertain whether this will be the case of course, but many have suffered terrible fates for no apparent reason at all, and I can't help but ponder if I will meet a similar fate someday.

This song did not take me long to write. It is a culmination of all of these thoughts. To me it encapsulates a melancholy, a balance of bright and dark emotion. Perhaps those that are tormented by similar thoughts may find solace in it. The title is "0 to 100". For me, the title represents the approximate lifespan potential of a person, and the time that passes within that lifespan. It is also a reference to the idiom "it went from 0 to 100", representing the sudden end and cataclysm many have faced, and will face in their lives.

0 to 100

Continuing with the theme from my last track, this is another dark piano song on tape. The word Stygian means dark, gloomy, infernal, or relating to the river Styx. Unlike 0 to 100, this song does not feel sad to me, but rather it has more of a melancholic and contemplative tone similar to the works of Erik Satie. Hi! I'm Reactre, an electronic music producer and multi-instrumentalist from Upstate NY. My influences include Techno, Breakcore, Electro, "IDM", Video Game Music, Vaporwave, Eurobeat, Synthwave, Jazz, Punk and House music.

My love for performing music began when I first started playing the drums in elementary school, but it took until high school for me to discover experimental electronic music through Radiohead's album "Kid A". From there I dove deep into the world of electronic music, discovering artists like Kettel, Arovane, EOD, and Aphex Twin.

I'm currently a full-time student studying music and audio production.

In addition to the music, I also make 3-D fractal art using a program called Mandelbulber, which is how I create the cover art for many of my songs.
