I've been waiting for an appropriate time to post this song, and being as 9/11 just passed I felt that now would be as good a time as any.  Thinking back I think this song was written about a month before 9/11 actually happened.  It was one of the regular occurrences where the homie Juan Perez showed up at the house, sat down on the couch and grabbed a guitar with the usual "I wrote this the other night...let me know what you think."  And as usual, as soon as he was done my jaw was on the floor.  Quickly the ideas began to brew and I was able to draft up a quick second verse in under an hour.  I think that evening we went to a rehearsal and came back on the late night and tracked it in the dining room of my parents house with 3 microphones. 

 I've always believed that a good song should be able to stand on its own in the most simple form and this song is definitely a testament to that.  If it's a good song you don't need the glitz and glamour, or even a full band, or a million dollar production budget to get it done.  Sometimes a voice and a guitar is all you need.  

The scary thing is that we wrote this over 13 years ago and it's crazy how it is still relevant today...

End Of Days feat. Juan Perez

Well folks it's Thursday which means time for yet another Throwback! This one hails from 2004 and is a band demo that I co-produced with my friend Steven Landaker.  This was for our band Full Circle Revue which was like a Vegas style show band complete with dance steps and costumes.  I forgot how good this actually came out until I stumbled on it while going through songs in my iTunes Library.  I can't remember how long this took us to do, but I just remember it was back in the days of passing files on burned CD's and many late nights trying to figure out how to make stuff work. Hahaha...troubleshooting at it's finest! Also this was before we actually had a booth and I used to hang blankets from speaker stands in the living room.  Those were the days...

The band stayed together for about close to 8-10 years, and to this day I consider them all family.  Luckily all of us in the band continue to play and every once in a blue moon we'll all get together and do a gig.  When people ask if we are still together we always tell them, "yeah the band is still together but we don't gig and we don't rehearse." Lol

Full Circle Revue Band Demo (2004)

Well it's throwback thursday folks, and time for another installment! Here is a track that only dates back a few years I think, and it's a project I worked on for the group Papa Joe and the New Deal.  This was part of their official Demo that they used for marketing purposes.  I believe the 4 entire project wa about 6 songs but we selected  4 of them to mix down and master.  The song is an old school classic that I hope you recognize and is definitely one of my favorites.  Enjoy!

Ok so quick back story how this came about.  A few weeks ago I saw a video of my niece Liyah singing and playing Ukelele at a talent show and was absolutely floored...I texted her after watching it and told her "next time you come home to visit we are going into the studio!" 

So on the last day of her vacation before having to head back down to Fresno, I was able to get her in the lab for a couple of hours and this is the result.  I knew she was going to sound amazing but nothing prepared me for this...  

I hope that you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it, and hopefully there will be many more projects to come.
