Really Good Time are an apres-garde four piece from Dublin, at the vanguard of the city's blossoming post-crunk scene.

Really Good Time are kicking the door in with their debut EP ‘Escape from the Mountain of Spit’, which boils down the band’s blistering live energy into three high-octane, hook-laden tracks that don’t let up across their ten minute run-time. 

Across three songs, the band delve into the sense of societal disillusionment and manipulation that has emerged in the age of digital individualism, attempting to smash it apart in the process with sheer decibel levels. 
‘Mountain of Spit’ sets the stage, taking aim at internet demagogues who prey on the young, the vulnerable and the disaffected. From deeply misogynistic ‘self-made’ men claiming to know the secret to wealth, power and ‘what women want’ to seemingly altruistic academics who sow division under the notion of free speech.

‘Plant Milk’ points to the absurdity of discourse surrounding seemingly mundane topics, as Really Good Time embodies the voice of a hysterical Piers Morgan type, wailing about the societal collapse being visited upon us via the medium of dairy alternatives. Set against the band’s rolling, angular arrangement that feels ready to pull itself apart at any moment, this whining tirade becomes doubly ridiculous as the band deadpan ‘I see them chanting, in the stands, a new world order, drinking plants’.

Closer ‘The Holy Grail’ zooms out to go full existential, examining ego and death through the voice of someone ‘standing at the pearly gates’, pleading with their own mortality. Pointing to their works and good deeds, their wife and children, the refrain asks if it was all nothing but a ‘mirror’, reflecting a self-image back inwards in a doomed attempt to stave off life’s only guarantee.
