Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Christmas songs and the like are also not eligible for the Listening Post, although we will collect these into a playlist that will be published on 24 December.

Rust & Bones – Fetchflix TV Series – Miss Scarlett

The voluptuous, sexy and very beautiful Miss Scarlett Page-Turner, commonly called “Miss Scarlett”, is the daughter of Ronny Page, flutist of the not so famous rock group "Led Vanillin", and Hazel Turner, full time pimp in her neighborhood brothel called “The Nuts”. Since Miss Scarlett Page-Turner was working for her mother as a call girl, she was assigned classy customers such as Dick Boneman. It did not take long for Mr. Boneman to understand how the big selling potential of Miss Scarlett would help his business. Mr. Boneman offered her a job in the sales department of Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. and she became sales rep for the North American Catholic market where she was meeting Bishops and Cardinals to sell them holly relics. The secret of her success was obviously the spicy extras she was offering during the sales meeting. Eventually, sales started to go low when Bishops and Cardinals where too busy dealing with sexual abuses scandals from their priests and having to hide them. Miss Scarlett lost her job as a sales rep and started a new career as novel writer. Her first and only novel “The  Bishops Secret Jewels” was a total success. Indeed, this novel was a real page turner. It was based on the unorthodox meetings she had with Bishops and Cardinals, which later were disclosed by journalist on the news. Could being laid-off by Mr. Boneman be a good reason to kill him? Naaaaah, she became his full time sexy mistress and his partner in crime for much worst sins.

Musical Note:
The double bass line at the beginning is based on the bass line of the “Lady Marmalade” song written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan in 1974. The “Lady Marmalade” song is well known for its suggestive lyrics that you probably know very well. I was also vaguely inspired by the song “Scarlet” recorded in 1974 by the English rock band the “Rolling Stones” featuring guitarist Jimmy Page of the “Led Zeppelin” rock band.

Making It Harder

'Until I Take My Final Breath' is a track taken from a forthcoming album project called 'Transformations' in which organic recordings of classical instruments are warped and bent using an array of effects, transforming them into otherworldly ambient soundscapes. 

This track features a recording of a woodwind quintet (piccolo, flute, bass flute, clarinet and recorder) which is massively slowed down and then fed through delays and reverbs. The result is a haunting piece where every nuance of the woodwind's vibrato and breath can be heard. 

Also presented in a remixed 'stuttering' version, where filters bring a rhythmic intensity and percussion adds to the chaotic metaphor for trying to snatch a breath of calm in a noisy world.

About the composer: 
Christof R Davis is a rising star of the contemporary classical, ambient and soundtrack genres. His work ranges from intimate solo piano compositions and layered neo-classical pieces through experimental ambient/electronica to cinematic soundtracks. His work has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6 Music, and he is a regular fixture in BBC Sounds Music Mixes ('The Sleeping Forecast' and 'Ambient Focus' to name two).

Pump! Pump! Pump! Push! Push! Push! Is fun Techno/dance/rock song about a daily gym routine that turns into a gym romance! It’s not uncommon for people to form romantic connections with others they meet at the gym, as shared interests and activities can often serve as a foundation for a relationship (in fact, we know two couples who did just that!).
We’ve combined a fast-paced dance song with the addition of a lead guitar to reflect the action packed, exercise routines and work outs that many people do at their local gym.

@barrycantswim drops into the Mixmag Lab at No90 Hideout to deliver a 60 minute DJ set of summer-y house groovers.

"It’s been three years since my last Mixmag set and this was a bit of a full circle moment for me. No90 was actually where I played my second ever DJ set. I barely slept the night before with nerves haha. Felt really special to be back in that room again for the first time since and remembering that moment," says Barry Can't Swim. 

"It’s been getting more and more normal to play faster and faster sets the past few years. I really wanted to show that you can still play tracks that have energy without having to ramp up the bpm too high and lose the groove. Big up! ❤️"
