A trademark feature of his versatile and dynamic sets, Chris Stussy’s long list of unreleased productions across the years has meant fans have always been treated with snippets of what’s to come from the Amsterdam-based talent. And while his Up The Stuss imprint houses a large percentage of these secret weapons, the curated approach to the label’s release schedule has meant that a new project has been in the works for a while now. Introducing UTSOFF - a special series that builds on the label’s forward-thinking ethos when it comes to house music from across the spectrum. Locked away in the vault while being tried and tested on special occasions, including his Printworks debut and recent Mixmag Lab in London, there’s no better way to kick things off than opening with ‘All Night Long’ - a signature Stussy production that looks set to elevate his rise even further via a skilfully crafted journey through rich synth melodies, skippy drums, and the iconic vocals at the heart of things. Not stopping there, the b-side is loaded with the warping and cosmic sonics of the excellent ‘Rose Bay’ for a special bonus treat.

Dublin house duo Obskür make their Defected debut with returning artist and vocalist SHELLS. Raised on a diet of Defected classics, the boys honed their craft in lockdown and reaped the rewards after, having already worked with leading industry names Eats Everything, Pete Tong and Gorgon City. Their previous release ‘Daydreaming’ saw UK radio support from Danny Howard, Sam Divine and TCTS thanks to its pure house sound that showed a respect for where the genre came from. The duo have rightfully earned their debut Defected release ‘Rebel’, enlisting the help of SHELLS; no stranger to a Defected hit, the UK talent sang on ‘Nightjar’ with top producers Vintage Culture & Sonny Fedora in 2022, gaining major play worldwide and setting the benchmark for what modern house should be. SHELL’s dark and hypnotic vocals permeate ‘Rebel’ as Obskür show off their sleek, synth-led production skills accented by hard hitting percussive elements.

PIV Serves up the fourth edition of their highly sought-after Amsterdam Dance Event Sampler. On this sampler PIV collects tracks from fresh new talent, but also from artists that have been affiliated with the label since the very beginning. 15 tracks in total, with 8 of them also appearing on the annually recurring vinyl edition that will be sold in Amsterdam during the PIV events and in online stores. Teramo native Ben Kim returns to Defected with a remix of the London label favourite, ‘Freak Like Me’ by Lee Walker vs. DJ Deeon. Since his Beatport chart-topping rework of Jefferson Airplane’s ‘Somebody To Love’ in 2021, Ben Kim has become one of the tech-house scene’s most promising artists, with releases across tastemaker imprints Nervous, Kaluki and Club Sweat. Ben Kim now returns to the London label with a remix of the Defected classic ‘Freak Like Me’; the 2016 release began as an edit by UK producer Lee Walker, who reworked DJ Deeon’s Dance Mania OG from the 90s. Lee’s version gave the raw vocal a deep, rolling groove, stripping it down to turn it into a major dancefloor weapon which received remixes and major support from artists like Jamie Jones and Carl Cox. Already supported by the likes of Marco Carola, Michael Bibi and The Martinez Brothers, Ben Kim adds his flair to ‘Freak Like Me’ with a remix that arrives just in time for the summer festival season - its deep, alluring sound promising to fill dancefloors for years to come.
