Sometimes when I look at you, I feel I'm gazing at a distant star. It's dazzling, but the light is from tens of thousands of years ago. Maybe the star doesn't even exist any more.

To find the deep of the way the Zen student has to know that she is empty. The bell is empty. The sound is empty. The Zen student has to know he is here, the bell is here, the sound is here.

entering into silence

cosmic waves

Streets lie quiet, yet alive,

Secrets shared, where shadows strive.

Towers tall and traffic stilled,

Dreams of night, yet to be fulfilled.

 

Starlit breezes brush the trees,

Silent symphonies, no one sees.

Buildings stand, in silent mirth,

Guardians of the sleeping earth.

 

Moonlit waters, silvered bay,

Reflecting tales of yesterday.

While the city, in whispered tone,

Plays a symphony all its own.

Regret's a weird thing,
it hits you outta nowhere
like a slap in the face
or a punch to the gut

I think about the choices I made
the roads I took and the ones I didn't take
the people I hurt and the ones I loved
the chances I missed, the ones I rose above

Sometimes I wish I could go back
fix the mistakes, rewrite the past
but life doesn't work that way
it just keeps moving, day by day

So I'm left with these what-ifs
these maybes, these could-haves
but I'm trying to learn from my mistakes
to move forward, to make new choices, to make new breaks.

serendipity

misunderstood

awaken the machine

Reckless with abandon, scared and showing fright,
there are no horizons, which he wants to see tonight.
Darkness pushes its way into a heart grown cold, 
traces of light no longer gleam, his fairy tale is no longer lived, or told.
