A seal in the surf rolling in joy
darts in and out along the waves
A baby otter on her momma’s chest
Lets out a yawn then wants to play

Gold curtains open up a shimmering sky
Awakening a hope 
To catch a glimmer of Northern Lights

We loaded up our traps
And set the boat to float across the Netarts Bay 
I shucked a bunch of oysters 
while we waited for the crabs to come our way
This showering of light
That rushes over us as dusk begins to fade
Leaves us struck with awe and wonder
As the boat so gently glides into the haze

It seems as if we finally have the chance
To bask beneath the Northern Lights
