The World

Rebecca Marie Miller is a force borne from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. With a career dating back to the tender age of 13, her work then and since is rooted in lilting melodies and unflinching sincerity, her lyrics dipped in melancholy then dredged with hope. 

For ten formative years, RMM fronted and wrote songs for Harrisburg’s Brave the Day, a band she co-founded. Upon Brave the Day's dissolution, she packed up shop and headed west to Los Angeles, spending nearly two years “making lots of mistakes and losing lots of money.”

LA, having gotten the better of her, RMM sold most of her belongings and began a slow, solitary path back to Pennsylvania. Making her way north to Oregon, then east through Montana's big skies and across the hauntingly
beautiful prairies of the Badlands, she arrived in Omaha, NE, to reconnect with Laura Burhenn, friend and founder of Mynabirds (Saddle Creek Records). Soon after, Burhenn would invite RMM to tour internationally with Mynabirds. Of that experience, she says, “So many great things have happened since then, all because I took a long drive.”

In 2013, RMM relocated to Portland, OR, and continued to carve a path with her voice. The PNW caught her with open arms, and she quickly found herself supporting acts like Foster the People and Kaki King. She formed the
band Lenore in 2016 with co-songwriter Joy Pearson. The group garnered immediate success and shared stages with music heroes, including The Decembrists, Laura Gibson, and Robin Pecknold. In 2019, the group performed at the iconic Newport Folk Festival.

RMM works as a session vocalist, contributing her voice to albums by beloved Portland soul legend Ural Thomas, Josiah Johnson of Head and the Heart fame, and Mynabirds. Her song "Thick Skin, Tender Heart" was featured in the 2019 film Paddleton, starring Mark Duplass and Ray Romano.

She is currently writing and recording at home and expects to harvest new material in the fall of 2024.
