Wind Waker is top tier Zelda soundtrack; this is hard to achieve, given that every Legend of Zelda OST is literally top tier anything soundtrack.  What might be considered the "worst" Zelda soundtrack is still miles ahead of most game soundtracks.  I'm biased, since I love Zelda, but I consider myself objective when in comes to music in the general sense.  The creativity and spirit that went into the WW music is undeniable.

This is my choral arrangement of "Sage Laruto" for my Hylian Chamber Choir album, for which, I am composing one choir remix for every game in the main LoZ series.  As of today, this is definitely my favorite on that album!  Generally, with this project, I've avoided adding accompaniment, but I've added it for the odd track, such as this one (I added some zither and temple bells) and the Song of Healing one I did for Majora's Mask (loads of bells to represent the chiming of the clock tower/passage of time) and the Spirit Tracks overworld cover (in which, I added some stomps from the singers to give it some gusto).  This one is a very "spiritual" piece, so I wanted it to sound somewhat archaic and mysterious.  The original composers for the Wind Waker OST are Koji Kondo, Toru Minegishi, Kenta Nagata and Hajime Wakai.

Wind Waker Remix

This was my attempt to encapsulate the spiritual essence of the Final Fantasy series.  There are many versions of the FF prelude out there already, so it was difficult to find a new take on it in one sense, however, nobody had composed an arrangement of this main theme that emphasized the spiritual essence of the ever prominent crystals in quite the same way- so I used that to guide me: a feeling that this particular facet of the crystal had somehow been, for the most part, unnoticed.  This is sort of how I've been wanting to hear the song all along, emphasizing the more ethereal aspects of the games, as opposed to making the theme more grandiose or, adversely, tame and relaxing.  In my mind, this could be a version of the tune that might play inside a temple in some kind of ancient magical village guarding an elemental crystal shard, such as Cleyra or Mysidia.

I used 3 harps, harpsichord, a full choir, a soprano soloist and a young boy soloist in this track, along with some temple bells and some mystical/spacey sounding synths.  I was sort of trying to combine the medieval aesthetic of most of the older games with the new agey depth I have come to associate with the various alien and otherworldly races in FF, such as the Lunarians who are very knowledgeable and detached as compared with the protagonists.

This is a theme (originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu) that has mesmerized me since childhood.  In fact, it would be accurate to say that the Final Fantasy 4 main theme partially sculpted my brain.  The game in general had a huge impact on my life, and still continues to do so to this day.  I've already composed covers of this melody twice before now (you can find them on my channel if you're interested) but I've incorporated both of the older versions into this new remix, similarly to what I did with my "Into the Darkness" cover.  Since I feel that my skills have improved, I've been revisiting a lot of my older arrangements as well as original compositions.

This is my cover of "The Chosen Summoner" from Final Fantasy 9, originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu.  The original track has been one of my favorite songs from FF9 since the game came out!  Most of my FF9 loving friends seem to really enjoy this track also, as do many of those who never played the game- I tend to show off a lot of video game music to non-gamer friends and family, as I don't want anybody to miss out on Uematsu's magic.  Generally, they seem to find it uniquely beautiful.  For whatever reason, however, there are very few remixes of it compared with some of the other tracks in the game.  I wanted to rectify that as best I could!  :D

This is a revisit to an older track of mine called "Rosa's Love", being the second Final Fantasy song I ever made an arrangement for.  The first was my all time favorite Nobuo Uematsu original, "Into the Darkness" (I'll likely be remastering that one as well!) I've been meaning to make this for some time now, but I was moved to do so rather suddenly when a friend started putting together a beautifully rendered imagining of the Forest Temple in Unreal engine.  I've already done two other covers of "Forest Temple" from Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, but this one, I think, is a little bit closer to Koji Kondo's original aesthetic, whereas the other two I sort of took in a different direction. So, this is finally done!  Yet another song I've been dreaming about and planning in my head for Aeons.  This is my cover of the town theme, "Kids Run Through the City Square" (also known as Kids Run Through the City Corner) from Final Fantasy 6.  It was originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu.  I added a lot to it, the original being a track on a SNES game.  I worked hard on this one, as it is very very dear to my heart.  I love the soundtrack to FF6 more than pretty much any other game, and I always try to put extra care and attention into any remix/cover/arrangement or tribute I create for that title.  I really hope that I've captured the essence of the original track, which (I feel) was warm, homey, sweet and tender, but perhaps a tiny bit wistful in lieu of the latter half of FF6.

Yes, I know I've already covered this song three times before- but hear me out!  This is not only my favorite song by Nobuo Uematsu, but also my favorite track from any game, RPG or otherwise.  I am so in love with the original song that I really never felt like I could do it justice.  Into the Darkness is literally a part of my soul, and a large portion of the reason I became a composer.  When I first got into Final Fantasy as a kid, I was utterly amazed by this track (and all the songs in FF4, for that matter!) and I had almost no idea how to handle the immense, beautiful, wistful longing Uematsu's music invoked in me.  There are others in the series that had a similar effect on me (Mt. Ordeals, Phantom Forest, Awakening, Evil Forest and Mt. Koltz, for instance) but this one somehow resonates with me even more than the others- which is a tall order!  Anyway, this epic orchestral arrangement for the cave theme incorporates parts/aspects of all three of my other covers of the song.  I hope you like it!  I tried to make it as exciting, mysterious and wondrous as the game itself.

Here is the next Halloween inspired video game remix!  I have a few more planned, but this is the one I was most looking forward to doing.  Many people found the Ikana Canyon track (originally composed by Koji Kondo) from Majora's Mask to be super creepy.  Maybe you also do.  :P  I didn't find it particularly frightening, although ominous, to be sure.  I had a lot of fun playing with samples of a whole bunch of different voices/vocals, including throat singing, choral stuff and operatic stuff.

Majora's Mask Remix

This is my orchestral arrangement of "Compression of Time" from Final Fantasy 8, originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu.  The theme is undoubtedly one of the most haunting themes in FF8, or perhaps, the entire series.  The original track is actually quite simplistic and stark, so I wanted to try to capture its subtle grace, while making it more complex and varied, using over half of the instruments in a standard orchestra, as opposed to the 5 midi instruments in the original song.

Final Fantasy 8 Remix

Rebecca Tripp - Final Fantasy 8 - Compression of Time

For a while, this was my favorite Chrono Cross song: "Shadow's End Forest", or "Forest of Cutting Shadows", composed originally by my dear, beloved Yasunori Mitsuda.  This song already has a new age/world kind of feeling, but I used a lot of ethnic instruments to make it more so.  The original, as well as my remix sound a lot like the work of Andreas Vollenweider (another of my favorite composers).  Chrono Trigger had, arguably, one of the best soundtracks ever written, but I personally prefer the Chrono Cross OST.  It might have just been the warmth of the acoustic guitar and all the vibrant, tropical sounds.  The game has parts that seem Indian, Mediterranean, Polynesian and even South American.  It is a very beautiful, colorful and complimentary blend of aesthetics.  If you have not tried CC, I highly recommend it!  :)

Chrono Cross Remix

This here is my remake of the FF6 Overworld theme (or Terra's Theme, if you prefer.)  It incorporates elements of both the main overworld track and "Awakening" (which, as far as I'm concerned is the "true" Terra/Tina theme song.)  Since I'm so utterly enamored with FF music- especially this particular soundtrack- I sort of went overboard with this one, heh heh!  The beginning section represents her more gentle, pacifist side, as well as her magical essence, and the final movement represents her immense power and strength.  The mid section is more about the world map and Terra's connection with the entire party in Final Fantasy 6.  The original song was composed by Nobuo Uematsu.

Rebecca Tripp - Final Fantasy 6 - Main Theme Suite

Prophecy was one of my very favorite tracks in Secret of Mana.  It's what plays when flying on Flammie's Back.  I found it mesmerizing, and wished that the loop was a bit longer.  I tried very and lengthen and vary this gem in this orchestral arrangement.  The original track was composed by Hiroki Kikuta, who is a genius!

Here is my cover of Madain Sari from Final Fantasy 9.  FF9 is my favorite FF, and this track (originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu)  is one of the most beautiful songs in the entire series!  I decided to create a fully orchestrated version of this piece, using a few Japanese instruments in tandem with the orchestral ones.  The part of the game in which this music is heard was captivating to me.  I would love to explain my reasons for this, but it's full of spoilers!  Anyway, suffice it to say that I love FF9, and hope that I did this ridiculously great track justice with my remix/arrangement.
