Moniker AKA Monica Holcombe is originally from Byron Bay, Australia but now resides in London where she runs her own bass night, ‘Subtropix’, twice a month at the White Horse in Brixton. Having played at Freeze, Outlook and Glastonbury as well as Ministry of Sound, Home and Alexandra Palace alongside greats such as Thom Yorke, Fatboy Slim, Krafty Kuts and Deekline & Wizard, it’s fair to say Moniker has some experience behind the decks. HAUSMADE Presents: Moniker

This is my remix of Figgy's Breathe Slow. I l also work as a mastering engineer and actually mastered the original and got straight on the phone to the guys at Cr2 and asked about remixing it.  

I was very proud of this remix as I really felt I took an important step in developing my sound. I had this idea in my head of blending some vibes from Indie/Shoegaze bands like Foals and Friendly Fires, 80s Pop vibes from artists like Shura and Jessie Ware with my trademark love of 80s Boogie grooves. With this remix I felt I really heard this concept coming together. 

It actually started off as 2 separate ideas - the 80s Boogie vibe and the Slow Jam idea you hear in the breakdown but eventually I put them together and it seemed to work. 

Best enjoyed reclining in the sun!

Figgy - Breathe Slow (Get To Know Remix)(Cr2 Records)

Impressed by Dj Isaac

Did this one a while ago now - I mostly wrote it during a two week trip to Australia back in Feb. Listening to it reminds me of lying in bed at 6am jetlagged and unable to sleep working on it on my laptop. All that I used from the original was the vocal which I really liked. Reminded me of a Florence kind of vibe - soaring and euphoric sounding. I thought it would make a nice contrast to the Boogie rhythm section and more indie guitars and I was really happy with how it turned out.

Rebel Sonix are London based audio-visual bass merchants Larry Holcombe and Phil ‘G’ Guest. Larry Holcombe will be known to many fans of electronic music as the production brains behind breakbeat duo DEF inc (Botchit and Scarper, Fingerlickin) and motion graphics artist and film maker Phil G is the founder of Hong Kong digital media agency Atomic Sushi. 
Embracing different styles and tempos, they produce music aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Rebel Sonix tracks range from Moombahton, Trap to Dubstep, Dancehall and Drum and Bass. 
They also create and giveaway mashups designed to create dancefloor devastation!
A mutual love of video and the relationship between sound and picture means that original tracks and remixes are always accompanied by a killer video and live performances are full on high octane audio visual assaults.
