This is a special bass remix of field recordings of tribal music from the Humbi & Handa tribes in Angola. The samples come from the vinyl record *Humbi en Handa - Angola nr 9* (recorded by Austrian music ethnologist Gerhard Kubik in 1965), from the songs 'Ohonji-mouth bow' (Handa) and 'Pwita-friction drum and chorus' (Humbi).

Brahim el Biskri is a well known singer of Algerian *Biskri* folk music, a style from the Northeast region of Biskra in Algeria and close to Tunisia. The sound of Biskri music is close to gasba & zamar music as well as chaabi through the use of horns and bagpipes as well as frame drums.  El Biskri takes care to respect the rules of the style and has a great notoriety in Algeria and abroad. This is the first time a remix has been made outside of his community, as far as we know :)

The original song is a traditional dance tune from Turkey, recorded around 1946(!) with Mahir on the double-reed shawm known as the zurna (an oriental double reed instrument, similar to the north african ghaita), accompanied by Ali the drummer on the double-headed davul drum.
