MIMS is excited to share the online premiere of Shamis & Rebiere's "Rock It For You". This groovy little number aims to capture the growing longing to dance freely,  and somehow finds sweet spot between modern funk, boogie and house. 

The laid back, mid-tempo drums, synth chords and soulful instrumentation, should definitely appeal to Kaytranada fans. But the tight groove is more than complemented by the smooth vocals of Shamis. ‘Let me rock it ’til the lights go out and the sun will rise again' he sings, dreaming of a care-free tomorrow.

The is the first song to be taken from a forthcoming EP to be co-released by Wicked Wax & INI Movement. It's also due to feature remixes by B. Bravo and Fouk, who add a modern funk and bass heavy house take, respectively. Release is due on April 30, on both wax and digital formats. Pre-order on the link above. 

Shamis and Rebiere previously collaborated on “Moonlove”, whilst Shamis dropped ‘Believe’ (featuring Yobe) earlier this year, which was subsequently remixed to great acclaim by bruk godfather IG Culture and his Likwid Continual Space Motion.

INI Movement is proud to present this debut collaboration between three nations - the UK, Kenya and Congo, bringing a modern fusion of authentic East-African Rumba and electronic sounds.

London-based producers Village Cuts, have teamed up with legendary vocalists from one of East Africa’s most prolific bands, Orchestre Les Mangelepa, alongside rising Kenyan guitar prodigy Shama to produce Baiskeli.

Whilst the song title might elicit images of a bicycle ride through the Kenyan countryside, the lyrics are a celebration of African music sung in a mix of Swahili, Lingala and English, and delivered by the unmistakable harmonies of the Mangelepa trio.

Shama is an expertly trained young guitarist, who founded and led the Rumba reviving group, Orchestra Masika Afrika in his homeland Kenya. Despite only recently rerooting in London, he has already become extremely in-demand for his skills in yielding the African axe.

On remix duties, acclaimed disco-edit maestro Aroop Roy provides a fantastically light-handed flip, complete with funky bass guitar and synth ecstasy. Cementing the Kenyan connection, INI Movement mainstay Ngalah Oreyo creates a deep and dubby escapade, heavy on the mighty Mangelepa’s hyped-up chants.
Baiskeli is a celebration of connectivity. Despite a recent loss of much physical interaction, musical collaborations mean the spirit of togetherness is still very much alive.

About Evolove:
Evolove is an amalgamation of the words 'evolve' and 'love.' The evolving musical structures in house, afrobeat, and jazz inspired Rotterdam talent Beau Zwart in the process of sculpting this EP. The idea of combining these different genres started out after a night of dancing on the couch with his girlfriend. After hours of dancing and flipping through different moods and genres, the concept of this EP was born. Born out of love (for dancing).  

Long-time label homie K15 delivers a deep take on For MXM in true London Brokenbeat fashion. Mysterious newcomer Lu-Lu brings an uplifting, summer-ready interpretation of the title track Evolove to complete Beau Zwart's second release on INI Movement. 

About Beau Zwart:
Rotterdam-based producer Beau Zwart had an early introduction to music, studying classical piano throughout his childhood. Amazed and inspired by the works of classical composers from older generations like Bernardt Herrmann & Ennio Morricone, he started to write his own compositions. In his teenage years, he discovered jazz and electronic music and implemented these worlds in his compositions, performances and DJ-sets.

Today, Beau is a producer, performer, DJ and sought-after film composer. He graduated in Music and Technology at the University of the Arts Utrecht, released several EP's on record labels like INI Movement, Fluid Funk, Midnight Riot Records, Boogie Cafe and his own imprint Narrative Identity. He performed at festivals like Noorderslag, Grasnapolsky and North Sea Jazz Round Town. Armed with an extensive collection of analog synths and drum computers, Beau strives to make complex music accessible and crosses borders between genres.

As a songwriter and vocalist, Paa Kofi’s passion lies in telling stories. Born in Ghana and raised in Amsterdam, Paa Kofi has primarily worked behind the scenes writing songs for artists including Sabrina Stark and Sarah Jane. 

He discovered his voice when he joined a friend to a studio session and the producer asked him to try his luck in the vocal booth. Since then he has released his first single ‘Once Upon Time' and performed on stage at major venues including Paradiso and Carré.

Paa Kofi takes inspiration from soul, jazz, blues, reggae and poetry, and effortlessly creates a warm and unique sound where his roots takes shape.

‘I See Fire' is the first single of a new project on INI Movement. The song was written after a bad breakup and outlines his gloomy views on love at the time.

Paa Kofi & Rebiere - Heart's Desire

Moonlove is the first single of a collaborative project from producer/songwriter Shamis & producer/multi-instrumentalist Rebiere. The two found each other in The Birdhouse Studio, where they worked on music for commercials, producing for Eva Lazarus and The Birdhouse Sessions.

Misha has played shows across the globe and released a great deal of music, mostly under the name PCM/Pitch Controller Mitch. His portfolio expanded through producing and writing songs for artists including Pete Philly, Alain Clark, Eva Lazarus, Rilan & The Bombardiers, JU-LIA, and Lorrèn.

Lucas van Ee, aka Rebiere is an Amsterdam based producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He has written and produced songs for artists like LYMA, Rilan Ramhane, and Gallowstreet. As a saxophone player Lucas has played with bands such as Michelle David & The Gospel Sessions, Gallowstreet, Jungle By Night, and My Baby.
