October’s edition comes from Molac.

Ecuador based Molac is a uniquely talented individual. With releases on labels such Watergate Records, Amulanga and Musique de Lune.  He recently remixed LOST founder Elliot Moriarty’s track (on Songuara), which found itself hitting the number 1 spot in the top 100 releases Beatport chart. 

His take and approach to making music is something admired by many, enabling him to team up with Organic House masters Gorje Hewek and Eduardo McGregor on previous projects. 

Support from the likes of Hernan Catteneo, Modd, Arina Mur and are regular occurrences for Molac, and we’re delighted to have him put together this mix for us.

Presenting their fourth release, Ruben Karapetyan's RKP imprint welcomes Tomek to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Hungary, Tamás Bolye aka Tomek has been a fixture of the electronic underground for well over a decade. Beginning as a DJ and event organizer, Tomek would release his first production in 2009, establishing a melodic progressive sound which would lead him to project's for John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings, Balkan Connection,ICONYC NOIR, PHW Elements and Stellar Fountain, the latter of which would operate as his primary home for the next decade. Increasingly choosy with his releases in recent years, Tomek now adds RKP to his resume with his first original production of 2023 'Electric Serenade', alongside remixes from Forty Cats and Luca Abayan. 

Making her label debut with the first interpretation of 'Electric Serenade' is Forty Cats. With well over a decade's worth of DJ experience, Russian artist Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has been a fixture of her country's nightlife, sharing the stage with Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Yotto, Dave Seaman and more. Christina's production breakthrough would come shortly thereafter, with a debut on Lane 8's This Never Happened, a release which would make her an in demand remixer and rising progressive house phenom. Now, four years on and Forty Cats is regarded as one of her country's premiere electronic music artists, with standout discography credits for Juicebox Music, Sound Avenue,The Soundgarden, Sudbeat Music, Mango Alley and WARPP. Always a creative remixer, Forty Cats now makes her RKP debut with a stunning rendition of 'Electric Serenade'. Focusing on a slightly darker monochrome, the Moscow resident takes greater aim at the dancefloor for what results in a heady eight-minute journey. Rebounding rhythms and deep chugging basslines set the course for snatches of flickering percussion and shapeshifting effects. Looking to bring a surreal yet emotive response, the main break shifts the narrative through moody pads and acid-like lines, before a fragmented didgeridoo cues a stripped back drop and meditative finale, one which an astute dancefloor will certainly appreciate.

The latest release from Tash's Movement Limited welcomes Kris Dur to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Mexico, Kris Dur has been a fixture of his country's nightlife for the better part of two decades. As a DJ first, Kris has been honing his skills at some of Mexico's trendiest venues, oftentimes blurring the lines between progressive, organic and melodic house. Also a producer, the Mexico City resident emerged in 2022 with a contribution to 3rd Avenue's popular 'We Are the Future' series, before going on to record projects for Freegrant Music, The Soundgarden and his own Join The Culture imprint, in turn earning support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Nicolas Rada and Marcelo Vasami. No stranger to the Movement family, Kris would make his Movement Recordings debut last year alongside Chilean producer Tomas Pablo, as the duo delivered a standout remix of 'The Jungle' by Taylan. Now, making his much anticipated debut on Movement's Limited division, Kris delivers a two-track showcase entitled 'Proud Harmony'.

Beginning with the title selection Kris finds a perfect balance between groove and melody. Complete with deep and melancholic vibes, the Mexico City resident crafts an engaging top line to flutter and shift atop a sturdy foundation of punchy kick drums and voluptuous basslines. Fragmented vocals and dubbed out chord stabs further the track's rhythmic inflection, eventually giving way to a finale of mesmerizing melodic progression.

Rounding out the release are the smooth hypnotic qualities of 'Copal'. Warm, spacious and flowing with a freeform sense, the track's first movement is built around a chunky groove, spacey synth mutations and precise percussive arrangements, the latter of which carries a hip-swinging energy into the main break. Kris' creative attitude shines across the interlude, with gentle melodies creating a sense of space and calm, as percussion reassembles towards a dynamic drum fill and suitably groovy finale to cap off the EP in style.
