We're pleased to welcome back Kevin Villa to the label. This is his debut EP on Illegal Alien Records, after his last contribution to our latest Deported Series: Twelve compilation released last February. Kevin returns, and we are thrilled to present you his brand-new work titled 'Echoes from the 9th Floor' a massive six-track EP that also includes a great remix from the Illegal Alien Ricardo Garduno. Without a doubt, this is a fantastic debut EP from the Colombian DJ and producer.

cndiy is a DJ based in Dortmund focusing on hypnotic and energizing techno.
In her sets she primarily aims for taking the listeners to a deep, yet uplifting journey through industrial and atmospheric soundscapes. Using melodious and flourishing parts to playfully tease out the elegance of rough and dark electronic music, she is always focussing on finding the right ratio between thrive, dive and fun.
 
Pursuing this approach she had appearances in local clubs in the Ruhr Area like The Gate Club (Düsseldorf), Junkyard (Dortmund) and Tresor.West (Dortmund) and has played for the established Berlin based label BCCO on their New Faces Night at Tresor (Berlin).

Adding to the Subtract Imprint ⍭ catalogue are 3 original tracks accompanied with remixes from 2 alternative perspectives by Obscur.

‘Lo and Behold’ fittingly introduces the EP. Microtonality plays a lead role in shaping the mood, exemplified in the bursts of sine tones arpeggiated throughout the track. The track is consolidated with an arsenal of moving textures to sustain tension.

‘Hidden Image’ boasts simplicity, the tracks rolling loop does the heavy lifting. Aligned with the track, the description needs little words.

‘Notch’s’ dark cavernous lows and eerie reverb-drenched percussion set the tone. With less focus on drive, and more emphasis on mood it reaffirms its place around the halfway point of the EP.

To conclude ST002, I’ve invited Obscur to supply the EP with two versions of ‘Lo and Behold’. Both hold familiar characteristics to his stunning solo works but offer a reshaped landscape of the original.
