PREMIERE: Jonathan Rosa - Daylight (ft Kyla Millette) (Dee Montero Remix) [Mirrors]

An established producer whose stock has risen consistently over a 6-year career, Imran Khan returns to Meanwhile Horizons with a full EP debut and his “Prowler / Big Sky / Hourglass”.

An artist whose music transcends the traditional progressive house tag, Imran Khan has presided over a deep and dramatic trademark sound that has seen him grace GMJ & Matter’s flagship imprint on multiple occasions since a 2020 remix debut. Going onto release the “Horizonz / Push Thru” EP in February 2021 and “Equinox” in October later that year, a sole outing on the Meanwhile Horizons sister label saw “Serenity” feature as part of the “Beyond the Horizon, Vol. 2” at the end of 2022. Now the UK artist returns with a musical triptych of the highest order.

Opening proceedings, “Prowler” immediately impresses with thumping beat and smooth sub-bass groove. A filtered percussion weaves a magical path while lustrous pads meander gently across the track in dreamlike fashion. As the rhythmic framework falls aways, beautiful sonic landscapes fill the stereo spectrum with a hallmark filmic quality, before the dynamic and dark rhythm makes its presence felt in the final stages.

A rolling breaks pattern sweeps across the opening refrains of “Big Sky” in an epic progressive breaks groove from yesteryear. An immaculately syncopated bassline sits within, as atmospheric pads coruscate in sonic waves that gently rise and fall. Building through a stripped-back breakdown, the various percussive and melodic elements combine in layers of sound before the titanic bassline groove returns once more. The result is an exquisitely crafted affair that maintains its rhythmic character to the last.

With seismic kick and whip-cracking snare, a swathe of melodic elements soon suffuses through “Hourglass”. A glassy motif hypnotises with melodic simplicity while a leviathan bass growl adds menace and depth. Redolent in delayed arpeggios that filter in and out of listener consciousness at the mid-point, the track lilts with consummate ease across its soul-stirring final movement as the melodic layers gradually drop away to reveal a meticulously arranged top-line.

A new dawn beckons over Meanwhile Horizons as Imran Khan illuminates with “Prowler / Big Sky / Hourglass”.

The final release for 2024 is ready to go! Label honcho Claudio Ricci teams up with his friend and studio partner Tsodor to bring you an energetic 2-track EP!

This past summer, Claudio and Tsodor began working together in the studio to see if the collaboration would enhance their musical and creative output. The experiment resulted in this 2-track EP, which showcases their musical diversity. Both artists are incredibly versatile and refuse to be confined to a single genre.

The first track of the EP, “Don’t You Know”, is a highly adaptable piece. With breakbeat-inspired rhythms, percussive elements, a bassline that hits you square in the face, a lead synth that sticks in your head, and a vocal sample instantly recognizable to late ‘80s music lovers, this track is a true standout.

“Face To Face” takes a completely different direction. This is a track to experience from start to finish, offering a deep, hypnotic groove layered with a constantly evolving pad. The chords serve as the hook and complete the journey, making it the perfect track to create magical moments in the early morning hours.

We’re wrapping up the year with this release and are excited to announce that Claudio Ricci and Tsodor have plenty more music in store for Raft in the near future!

The latest release on Future Avenue welcomes back Gerardo Portillo with his new "Nómada EP". A prominent figure in Mexico's electronic music scene, Gerardo has been passionate about music since the age of 18, carrying forward his father's legacy. Known for his dynamic presence, he has shared the stage with renowned national and international artists such as Gepri, Mapiu, Karlos Elizondo, Tini Tun, Gabriel I, Frankie & Sandrino, Khen, and BOg. As a key artist on Mexico's leading label, Tenampa Recordings, and a resident DJ at Mexico City's iconic Hookah Lounge, Gerardo has solidified his reputation over the years. He also spearheaded the "Triangles" project from 2017 to 2019, showcasing talents like Audioholic, Neftali Blasko, Rodrigo Cortazar, Jesús Olvera, and Omar.

The "Nómada EP" features exceptional remixes by Rodrigo Cortazar, Stae, and Simio Albino, each adding their unique flair to Gerardo's original work.

Paul Hazendonk returns on his own Manual Music imprint with the final part of his Signature Series trilogy. Yet again presenting two brand new originals that cross over between various genres within the melodic electronic music spectrum.

First up it's 'Unagi', a massive and intense peak time dance floor bomb that will leave you with the feeling that you've been slapped in the face... in a good way! Paul's trademark arps build up the tension towards a roaring ravey bassline only to revert back to emo mode during the beautiful piano break until it's all systems go again. Proper madness this one!

The accompanying piece 'X Is Forever' is a more heady and intelligent piece. Starting out with a minimalistic arrangement and wobbly bassline, a mysterious vocal gets introduced early on which turns out to be the trademark element of this song. Of course the ever present arps make their introduction as the track gently builds on towards it's climax. A lovely piece of work to end the Signature Series trilogy!

Paul Hazendonk - X Is Forever

'Operating out of his Cordoba home at the base of the Sierras Chicas, Sebastian Sellares has been a consistently impressive performer with a string of high-profile releases. A 2018 debut for PHW Elements was soon followed by work for MNL, UV and August 2020's three-track "Cordoba" EP for onedotsixtwo. Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode and Daft Punk, his music has received support from a raft of high-rollers that include Cid Inc., Aly and Fila, and fellow countryman, Hernan Cattaneo. A Proton Music debut remixing Hot TuneiK's "Circles of You" in June 2019 is now followed by a twin-track debut that opens with the sparkling "Jinsei". Redolent in dynamic percussive rhythms, a similarly cadenced synth line and syncopated bassline provide additional groove before an earworm motif reveals itself. Waxing and waning over the 11-minute magnum opus, counterpoint string phrasing adds subtlety and guile. The rhythmic prowess of "Zen State" is immediately apparent as a sumptuous bassline supplies depth with its gated pattern. Before long, a richly delayed synth line makes an appearance that repeats pre and post-breakdown while an additional free-flowing synth and smooth pad captures a joyous mood.'

Hello, Reckon here.

I've been making music from my little houseboat studio here on Amsterdam's canals, crafting melodic, deep, and psychedelic techno and house for both solitary headphone journeys and collective dancefloor moments.

I started out in the underground hip-hop scene, but places like Club Trouw completely pulled me into electronic music. Had some releases on San Francisco's Mioli label back in 2011-2013, then spent about a decade writing code. Just returned to music recently.
