Here's a version of The Meters' classic that ReClaim played last night in rehearsal. It's completely live and unedited and our first time playing it! So there are plenty of goofs but we had a blast playing it and thought we'd upload it - let us know if you like it!

Keep it down

This a track with some subtle use of melodyne to create vocal harmonies going into the middle 8 and the outro chorus. I really like this track as it's a real journey, featuring a few different recording methods. Part 1 is an ambient street recording of a kora player and, er, a baby! That's mixed with noise from a multitracked bass guitar fuzzed up to the max, all drenched in reverb. Both recordings made outside and in studio with a zoom H4n. Part 2 is the main song itself, much more concise, but still proggy and polymetric with melodyne used creatively, not as a corrective tool. I like the way it moves from section to section quickly without being rhapsodic. Part 3 returns to ambient recording with some backwards guitar to bookend the song. See what you think and if you can spot the melodyne use! I'm also please with the mix on this one, hope you like.bas

A live performance of us firing on all cylinders for one of our live favourites, "Break Free" (with a little bit of "The Necromancer" by Rush thrown in for good measure!!). It was a great end to a great night and I'm delighted to finally get a decent live recording of us in action!!!
