For the second edition of Bastardo Electrico we welcome another one of Ireland's best electronic DJs & selectors NEZ and he has delivered an hour & a half of power for you, fusing dark machine funk and heavy, hypnotic techno. Enjoy!

Nez is a Belfast-based DJ and founder of Computer Controlled Records, a label dedicated to the rawer, darker edges of techno and electro. Over the past 2 decades, he’s carved out a distinct voice in the underground scene, both as a selector and as a curator, driven by a deep respect for the roots of electronic music and a hunger for its future possibilities.
Known for intense, tightly crafted sets, Nez brings an uncompromising approach to the dancefloor. His selections speak to years spent digging, listening, and understanding how music moves people physically and emotionally. There's a clarity of intent in his sets: no gimmicks, no trend-chasing, just pure, high-voltage energy built for dark rooms and late hours.

Through Computer Controlled Records, he’s released music from like-minded artists who share a passion for hardware-driven sound and DIY ethos. The label has become a trusted outlet for heads seeking depth and authenticity, reflecting Nez’s commitment to keeping the underground alive and vital.

Outside the booth and studio, Nez remains active in the Belfast scene, supporting local talent, hosting events, and helping build a space where music can thrive on its own terms. Whether he’s playing to a packed club or championing a new artist, the goal stays the same: to serve the music and the people who live for it.

This leading light from the Berlin scene is up next with 85 minutes of feel good tunes guaranteed to get you moving. Partok’s rise as go-to DJ for clubs like De School, Blitz, Basement and Panorama Bar is really no surprise. The recipe? Bridging genres and histories from Detroit to early UK rave, and constantly correlating those with more recent developments in music, and always through a queer lens. These deckside stints have a soft galvanising power, chugging rhythms with social change front and centre, grassroots house that spurs dancefloor denizens to action with selections that prioritise the work of fellow queer artists. Along with Roi Perez and David Elimelech, Partok's also at the reins of transnational party series Laundrette, a forum for endurance-testing B3B sets. And the fun doesn’t stop there, his past forays into production as 1/3 of Partok Matushka Apfelberg on Kompakt have set the bar even higher, fleshing out a vision for sound that flips the script at every turn. For Bassiani Podcast 279, this Berlin selector brings a singular magic, anthemic grooves and butter-smooth transitions, this is highly combustible house from a one-of-a-kind talent, an exclusive mix recorded at the K41 garden in Kyiv for Bassiani.

Up next in the series is Manchester-based artist Means&3rd. Living in the city since 2007, his musical education has been shaped by Manchester’s vibrant scene. After studying music and promoting events for several years, he found his place behind the counter at one of the UK’s finest record stores, Eastern Bloc Records, where he curates the house and techno sections and runs the events side of the business.

A local favourite and regular at The White Hotel, Warehouse Project, Soup Kitchen, Stage & Radio, Unit3, and the intimate Eastern Bloc club nights, his DJ style has evolved into a more textured, heady yet still driving vision of techno and beyond.

In recent years, he launched his own imprint, Unveiled Nuance, serving as both a platform for his productions and a namesake event series. The label now holds its first three releases, with more material set for 2026, well worth exploring for anyone seeking quality sounds.

After his last few clubbier and more BPM-diverse podcasts, this mix marks a return to a more atmospheric space, a reminder of what first drew him to this music. Though there is a shift in tempo throughout, the aesthetic remains focused on deeper, headier styles. Having recently rediscovered music that truly resonates within this sphere, he brings those fresh discoveries together here.

When Joachim Spieth asked me to write his biography, I knew I would have to be a bit creative in order to write something different. You see when writing a biography, there are things you have to speak about, even though you know it has been said many times, and you fear it will end up looking like any other biography, with the usual and righteous amount of name droppings.

For instance, I couldn’t avoid saying that Joachim Spieth has released a numerous amount of records, on labels as renowned and diverse as Michael Mayer’s Kompakt, Traum Schallplatten, or Paso Music to name only few. And that some of those releases, such as « Under Pressure » have been, and are still hits. How could I pass on the fact that some of his compositions have been charted by Martin Gore and Sven Väth, played by Juan Atkins and Derrick May, licensed by The Orb or remixed by Rolando? And I couldn’t possibly forget the label Affin he has successfully been running for seven years, with 150 releases added to its catalogue.

I also had to mention that he has been involved in the electronic music scene for the past fifteen years; that he used to play in a band as a teenager. I had to name the clubs in which he has played during the last decade. Tresor Berlin, Tunnel, Culture Box or Hive Zurich being his regular meeting points with the crowd.

But I did not really want to speak about all of the above. Because what matters at the end is who he is, what he wants to express by producing music and what he has been giving to the scene. Being a shy character, he is not the type of person searching for the spotlight but someone that is evolving on the scene by pure passion, and wants to communicate this passion to the others. He created his label Affin to be as independent as possible and focus on discovering new talents.

But most importantly, what Joachim Spieth does not put into words, is translated into sounds. Deep, solemn and at times enraged, his productions represents Techno in its purest expression. They are made to occupy our dying cathedrals of concrete, to crush the reality of our everyday life under an assumed individuality. The elaborated basses and the echoing melodies grab our minds to throw them in a far away world, leaving the silence of a doomed society behind.
