A look back at Philippa Pacho’s profound performance in our Room 01 at the positivesource showcase, which she co-founded hand in hand with Blue Hour. The Stockholm-born artist delivered a knife-edged vision to techno during a two-hour memorable set at her imprint night in Fuse.
 
Like a gentle hold, Philippa's narration is as tactile as poignant. Dark without being obscure, musing yet energetic, no one can doubt the decade of musicality that has flowed through her veins ever since. Drawn to sharp kicks or a few clipped vocals here and there, Philippa Pacho's mix is an invitation, or even more an exploration, to a complex and appealing inner world. A stand-out.

Born in Sweden but operating out of Berlin, Philippa Pacho has been making waves in the scene as of late, notably amassing a stream of incendiary performances at some of the world’s finest (and most demanding) clubs, including Bassiani and Fuse. Herald of a fast-paced, no-surrender type of DJing, all eyes set on bringing crowds to a simmer thru and thru, Philippa muscles her way across various techno sub-genres and rhythms with conviction and poise, alternatively pushing classic Detroit-influenced material, Nordic minimalism and more Continental European-informed expressions, as she harnesses the very best of these through uncompromising selections with a pristine mixing technique. Bosnian-built and -bred Sev Dah may be a Swedish expat, but the Balkan blackness clings strongly to the bleak percussions and rigidly uneasy synthetics that unwillingly fuse into his strongly individual take on techno. Authentically purveying the pulsations of the nakedly throbbing and ugly world, far away from Starbucks and H&M. 
Signed to respected labels such as Random Island, Mote-Evolver and Kaiser's KSR, he quickly gnawed his way into the scene’s core of DJs and producers. Sev is even managing new projects on his own label Proletarijat since 2016. Like a rabid mongrel, since 1998 he has been chewing and belching new bastard beats that are aching to scream out. Consequently there’s a steaming and steady stream of vinyl releases coming.
With influences ranging from Stigmata and Mills to Master Reese and Petar Dundov, Sev Dah is a versatile but headstrong DJ that can gently ease a thumb in at midnight or fervently thrust it down the hatch at peak time.

For BASEMENT 008, we've turned things over to Holden Federico.   A favorite of the NY underground, Federico holds a reputation both for his comprehensive knowledge of techno's most obscure corners and for his capacity to channel his sprawling collection into DJ sets of exceptional poise and vibrancy. Raised in Pennsylvania, an early fascination with software production led him from live music into an obsession with track building and the limitless possibilities of electronic music. In 2020, he launched @90stechno.redux, an online platform that catalogues some of the finest, and often nearly-unheard, examples of the genre's golden age. Drawing heavily on the Detroit-Berlin axis, Federico exemplifies the focus and discernment of a purist, engaging with techno both as a true art form and as a near-spiritual discipline.

A much (duly) rated exponent of the Dutch techno sound within and well beyond its borders, Eerste Communie co-founder and resident MARRØN clocks in with a vibrant two-hour trip into his constantly minimal, yet untiringly expansive imaginarium. Through a chiselled selection of cuts both surgical and eerie - combining the haunting nature of deep, texturally lavish dubs with that of clinically arranged dance floor-destroyers, he has us swaying in a state of spooky stasis, zoning out further and further into trance-like abandon as the groove etches deeper. Boasting a signature both paced-up and uncompromisingly stripped down to its atomic nucleus, MARRØN serves up a masterly crafted piece of soul-searching engineering.

The KEY Vinyl label boss has been responsible for more than a few outstanding nights at the club, including our first-ever all-night-long set. If you know his name, you know his reputation: Freddy K is a bonafide underground hero, with a devotion to true-school techno that can legitimately  be called “uncompromising.” In this mix, he opens up a portal into another world, taking us deep into the heart of the spacious, psychedelic sound that is his calling card.

Championing a sound both deep-diving, rugged and hi-intensity thru and thru, the Frenchman treats us to a storm of steely firepower and post-apocalyptic brainwaves. His mix of cerebral wares and shape-shifting, industrial-informed machine talk takes us straight back to the heyday of raving, when the sound we all love was not just a merchandise, but meant a whole new perspective on the world as we knew it.
