Few words from them regarding this beautiful mix:
'Back in the early 2000s I was living in Austin, Texas, playing drum n’ bass that was more on the jazzy side of things. Some like-minded friends started up a DNB night called Mental Note at Plush in downtown ATX and asked if I’d like to be a part of it. During my time as a resident there, Brazilian drum n’ bass was starting to blow up and I wanted to find out more about it and experience where it came from. I was in graduate school at UT Austin at the time, so I was able to secure a spot in their summer study abroad program in Brasil. Before I went, I looked around on the internet to see if I could contact anyone about gigs. Thanks to Claudio Manoel with Pragatecno and DJ Mari Rossi in São Paulo I was able to secure a few DJ gigs in João Pessoa, Salvador, and São Paulo. 

I’ve been able to keep in touch with a lot of the DJs I played alongside via social media and they’re all doing big things still which makes me happy. So yea, Brasil has a big piece of my heart and this mix is dedicated to that time in my life and the big love I’ll always have for the music that came out of Brasil or was influenced by it.'

RBR Mix 03: TOYACOYAH - 'Saudades do Brasil'

For the 4th installment of the RBR Mix series, we head to Brooklyn, where @conner-chase aka Sparkle Motion has woven together an hour long mix brimming with tried and true dance classics. 'A Love Letter to The Pyramid Club' is Conner's tribute to the recently shuttered Manhattan bar. Here's a few words on the mix from Conner:

'In a year plagued by loss, we also saw the closing of one of Manhattan’s most beloved gems. The Pyramid Club was a small dive loved by many and favored by the art queers of the East Village. A beacon of NYC nightlife that showed how queer world-making could occur in reality, the Pyramid Club was a family of performers, musicians, dancers, friends and lovers. These public spaces are what makes New York such a unique and vibrant city, unlike now where most forms of contact have been pushed completely out of the public sphere largely due to malevolent city planning that has favored luxury real estate development over human lives. I cannot wait until I can go dancing once again, goddess knows I’ll be thinking of the Pyramid Club.'

The RBR Mix series has officially landed, and we are hyped to introduce it to you with a mix from our pal Brian aka @bloodmaw, from Boston. 
Brian was an early supporter of RBR and has been tuning in and gassing us up from the jump. No stranger to the decks, Brian's been issuing mixes steadily for some time, so having him hop on board for the first installment is giving us all the feels.

"...I've been working on this project for a while and decided when better than to debut it here: a second parter to my "Digital Island Megamix" from early 2020. A 90 min mix of underground reggae / funk / hip hop / boogie jams from around the world. Inspired by visuals of the short story "Digital Life" (1979)."
