A1.  On And Off

An accomplished producer with releases for the likes of All Inn Black, MAYAK and Body Parts in his locker, Andrei Adrian — better known by his alias, Zefzeed — is one of his country’s most respected and consistent producers. Just as capable of conjuring up spirited deep house melodies as he is more intricate minimal perspectives, his is a unique take on electronic music that continues to endear him to those outside of his native Romania. His latest release comes at us from Naural, a Timisoara-based label for whom he returns to here courtesy of the exceptional sounds of the aptly curiously-named ‘Watermelon Effects as Viagra’ EP. 



The all-round intriguing EP gets underway thanks to the title track, a curious cut with muffled vocals that evokes memories of some of Perlon’s most inspired works. A truly ambitious opener, it’s also an auspicious one, and one that neatly paves the way for ‘Loquat.  Another example of the producer’s knack for unusual and unconventional approaches, it sees Zefzeed rip up the rule book in quite astounding fashion. A versatile and curious DJ tool, it’s definitely made with restrained, patient taste-makers in mind. 



B side opener ‘Jet Engine Thrust’ meanwhile. is stuffed with enticing melodies, and is a spirited sounding off-kilter cut that’s sure to help wipe the winter blues away. Full of clever guitar licks and floating, ethereal vibes, it’s an impressively fresh-sounding track and one that’s hard not to fall for. Matters then come to a close courtesy of ‘Zee But Before She Said Zed’. While the title itself is hard to make heads or tails of, the music is no different;. Sliding through a range of sounds and emotions, it touches on everything from stripped-back minimalism to emotive deep house. A fine example of how to do less with more, it’s very much indicative of a producer willing to take chances.

[B2] Zefzeed - Zee But Before She Said Zed

Following his recent Australian tour, Modeight label mastermind Silat Beksi now connects the dots between Europe’s thriving minimal underground and the emerging scene down under by showcasing Aussie modular specialist Venda for Modeight’s 8th vinyl release. After early 12” outings on Norse Projekt & Subsonic Music, Venda now presents his most accomplished work to date - the darkly accented and introspective “Ovio” Ep. Here is more definitive sonic proof that there is something special brewing on the island continent. With the Aussie revealing 3 deeply rhythmic cuts, awash with subtle artefacts and submersive hues. His dynamic approach to production results in a perfect union with Modeight here, as the imprint continues to explore the farthest realms of minimal music.

B1 Venda - Ovio

Arriving next on Soblazn we unveil Enivréz Vous and his wickedly provocative 'Across the Line EP'. As Autumn gently sweeps over the Northern Hemisphere this fine 4-tracker treats us to darkly trippy atmospheres, frantic drum-machines, and eerily beautiful moods. The EP flaunts cohesion, style and delivers just the right dose of doom interspersed with hard-hitting drums, surely to tickle the sound system of your choice. Not to be missed!

Enivrèz Vous - Sid

Next in line on @serialism Records' digital platform DX is a very special EP by Japanese talent and Sound of Vast co-owner, Red pig flower. 

Red pig flower doesn't have boundaries when she creates but her sound always tends to be hypnotic, dreamy with a mysterious vibe as she believes club music should give the audience a sound experience that will make that specific moment an unforgettable one. 

In fact, she always wanted to expand her horizons not only as a producer but also as a storyteller throughout theatrical representations and mind-blowing installations.

“Mouse Trap” EP expresses these ambitions perfectly, where she tells 4 different dark fairy tales collaborating with singers Susanah and Lilly, both of whom drag people into a tunnel with their almost ominous voices.

The remix of the EP title track comes from label co-owner and pioneer Quenum, who adds a mature spice into the EP to complete a masterpiece of coloured and quirky tones.
