Konstantinos (@fluxion)Soublis’ music was born in urban Greece and really found its path during the mid 90s, in a city that existed in a state of ‘flux’ like no other in the 20th century. Berlin’s social, historical and political factors all came to bear both consciously and unconsciously on the musicians experimenting in the city around the turn of the millennium and the freedom in the city’s creative spirit was very much a reflection of these wider factors. This, along with the naivety and liberalism of the time, mixed with punk-like rebellion against form gave birth to many of the strains of techno and electronic music that now dominate the sound of clubs the world over. Fluxion was swept along in this wave of creating for creativity’s sake during this special time, with an organic, naturally fluid and playful attitude towards pushing artistic boundaries. With 10 Fluxion albums and numerous ep’s, his work sprawls across 2 decades. Fluxion was at the start of the Dub Techno movement that is now considered a gender with thousands of releases. Two decades of constantly releasing and blending sounds without resting on his laurels of now considered classic releases such Vibrant Forms I and II but always inducing his sound with new ideas, and embracing the free form improvisational approach which enables an artist to use his studio as an instrument not a tool. He has  collaborated with various well respected labels, such as Chain Reaction and @echocord as well as his own imprint Vibrant Music which has recently been re-launched (2017) for Fluxion and associated releases and collaborations . His more recent album works as Fluxion (Vibrant Forms III), was released in 2016 closing the trilogy commended back in 1999 on Chain Reaction. He then released (Ripple Effect) in 2018, combining electronic music with score music, and (Perspectives) in 2020 which has been described by the artist as his most personal work to date. Fluxion’s work takes the long view, “allowing sound to breath”, interact and meld together in new and unexpected ways, bringing in influences from other styles of music, classical, score, jazz, in an attempt to broaden the horizons and create new possibilities of the gender, and manages to do that keeping his characteristic sound and compositional aesthetic, keeping his music distinct.

We are excited to share with you the latest perception of Far Blue from an artist who we truly admire. Martinou has built a distinct sound, blending deep, atmospheric textures with intricate rhythms to form a soundscape that is both immersive and emotionally evocative. After having Martinou to play a closing set at Borisov for our Far Blue x Pintai event earlier this year, we could only look forward to the next time we would be able to share his music with you. An artist who truly pushes the boundaries with the tracks he produces and the mixes he puts together. 'ecotone' captures his essence of Far Blue, crafted entirely from his own creations.

"an ecotone is an area where two biological biomes meet and blend into each other. one biome may extend further into the other at one point and the lines can easily blur; where does one biome end and the other start? this is a recording of what i’ve come to uncover from my mind and record whilst in my innermost haven. like the ecotone, the music is always flowing, ever changing."

A Far Blue concept by Martinou - 'ecotone'

Trust when we tell you this mix has been a long-time coming... And now, finally, enter Tm Shuffle (AKA Trackmaster Shuffle AKA DJ Shuffle). His real name is Jukka Hänninen and he originates from Ruutana, Finland - a settlement absorbed into the country's sprawling second-largest city Tampere, which lies in the south of the country, about 150 km north of Helsinki.

Jukka is a purveyor of finest deep & dubby techno music as an artist, DJ and label boss with his Vuo Records and Soulful Dubs imprints, which stretch back to a first release in 2003. His labels have released the works of his friends and fellow countrymen like Monoder, Phonogenic, Trevor Deep Jr; Star Dub; Armin Bender; Marco Cassanelli; former Avenue Red guest OHM and his long-time collaborator Kvadrant, to name just a handful.

This mix is a testament to his veteran status on the decks and his keen ear for a patient, treacle-smooth flowing deep dubbed-out techno vinyl mix that feels transcending, full of cosmic touches... and if you close your eyes you can see the northern lights shimmering in your mind as you let the sounds wash over you.

Artist: Hidden Sequence [Mosaic / Lempuyang / Alt Dub / Moon Garden / Silent Season]

Our 12th journey takes until into the joint minds of Paul Simmons and Stefano Ugliano (6884) aka… Hidden Sequence. The Duo have been playing and producing together since they met in 2020. Individually they both have their own unique sound and skill sets. Paul, born and raised in London, has been DJ’ing across the world for over two decades while Stefano , is an Italian born self confessed studio dweller and sound sculptor. As is often the case with duos of this nature, what they bring to the table is even greater than the individual parts. Their music has been a breath of fresh air within the Dub Techno community since their arrival on the scene.   

Production wise they have had a string over incredible releases over the last few years with music coming 200 Records, Mosaic, Lempuyang, Alt Dub, Ausblick, Moon Garden and OHM Series. Quite the resume for this relatively new collaboration. Having had some great conversations with the guys, we are extremely excited to hear what they have planned and forthcoming over the next weeks and months.   

For their contribution to the Frontier series they have turned in an incredible hour of music. We float through some beautiful ambient cuts, some bass wobbling, head nodding Dub, Roots & Reggae, and onward into the world for 4/4 dub techno. They really went to town on this mix and we are honoured that they have packed in lots of unreleased material.

TM Shuffle is more than just a name in the international dub techno scene. The Finnish producer, DJ, and head of VUO Records has a rare talent for distilling the essence of depth, space, and rhythm into his productions. His music is infused with a hypnotic pulse that doesn’t shout loudly but tells stories subtly – of snow-covered landscapes, quiet nights, and an unwavering love for electronic music. What sets TM Shuffle apart is his uncompromising dedication to reduction. His musical philosophy is not about quantity but quality: less is more. By deliberately limiting himself, he becomes more creative – digging deep, searching intentionally for the right sound, and developing a distinct musical signature. Here's the instrumental version of the DJ Gregory inspired remix I made of Rhianna's cinematic masterpiece Sledgehammer.

I'm a long time Gregory fan since his Prassay  days and it was Defected legend Andy Daniell that hooked me up with the mix so figured it would be cool to do a remix that was also a nod to some of Gregory's own works such as Joburg Theme and Elle as well as one of my Gregory favourites - his remix of Jon Ciafone's Everyday.
