"Domesticated" is Sébastien Tellier's 6th studio album, his groundbreaking come back since "L'Aventura" in 2014. In his mind, he had only one ambition: gathering a fresh new guard of producers with the aim of crafting a new lush, futuristic pop sound, although still infused by his eternal and oh so special melodies. Mixed by the sound wizard Nk.F (celebrated for French rap duo PNL’s stunning sound), "Domesticated" will surprise you by its breadth and silkiness. Its topic, domestication, will speak to anybody delightfully familiar with the everyday domestic ballet of a household. 
Mostly written at home, Sébastien allowed himself to be inspired by what he had in front of him: piles of plates stacked in the sink, dirty socks spread out on the scratched floor, two beautiful children he has yet to domesticate…or is it him now who is being domesticated?

Sébastien Tellier - Roche

A debut release for both band and label, Parisian duo Paradis' bring two eloquently produced tracks to Beats In Space in the form of the Parfait Tirage b/w La Ballade de Jim 12" (BIS001). Admirers from afar of DJ Tim Sweeney's weekly on air institution of 12 years (from which the label takes its name), Paradis submitted demos hoping they might hack it for some play time. 

Reared on classical and jazz, turned young hip hop rebels, turned teen club crawlers, and then university machine tinkerers, Simon Mï¿½ny & Pierre Rousseau grew out of genre jumping while young enough to stay ahead and settle into music making centered around melody and emotion. 

This touchstone approach is perfectly apparent on "Parfait Tirage", a track built around sublime synth ambiance, a compelling sequence lead, and what will one day be unmistakably recognized as the Paradis vocal sound. The b-side, "La Ballade of Jim", is a deep techno take on beloved French artist Alain Souchon's track from the 80s, and already a staple in Sweeney's live set. 

Each 12" from Beats in Space features original artwork in considerate & serial form. The first 12" features artwork by Bjorn Copeland, a 21st century schizoid collagist and member of NYC experimental music legends Black Dice. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a vinyl BIS logo cling. The 12" will be available on September 20th, 2011 from fine retailers worldwide. The digital version will be available October 4th, 2011 from the drab internet universe.

Parfait Tirage

Returning to Beats in Space after their debut 12" (and the label's debut release) in the fall of 2011, Paradis offers "Hémisphère" and "Je m'ennuie", another pair of sophisticatedly crafted, noir-pop songs from the young Parisian duo. 

On the two tracks of their second 12", Paradis self-reflect to find an escape hatch away from themselves. The A-Side, "Hémisphère", a macabre story of a lonely guest of life determined to leave everything behind, defies the narrative's convention and captivates with pop melodies and up beats abound. 

On the B-Side, "Je M'ennuie", lovers settle into late-night melancholic routines soundtracked by a brooding bass line, an achingly affective synth lead, and vocals that grin behind the disaffected front. Ultimately, hope prevails as both tracks beg the listener to leave their headphones behind for the global village's dance floor. From Paris to Cologne, from Buenos Aires to New York, in the words of Michel Polnareff, "On ira tous au Paradis." 

Each 12" from Beats in Space features original artwork in considerate & serial form.
