Hidden Fees is Ivan Berko and Thomas Gluibizzi, lifelong friends and conductors on New York City’s underground dance music railroad. Travelers in multiple decades of the City’s ever-evolving time and space, the duo curate a perfect combination of grit and groove from each corner of the five boroughs and filter through the funky, spunky So What EP for Beats In Space Records.

Stricken of samples, loops and other tools typified in present day dance track crafting and screen mapping, “So What” is “organic music for the modern dance floor.” Berko and Gluibizzi depend on real humans – friends and fellow musicians – to originate proper live studio room works / workouts that breathe, smoke, snort and contort to the body clock’s unpredictable rhythm.

“So What” revels in this communal groove. The minor chord shuffle and percussion pump along rough n’ ready riffs rocketing from saxophone and guitars alike, each element stuffed in-the-pocket by a disco-indebted bassline. The spit-soaked vocals of Christopher Exits strut “So What” from the sweaty depths of a Brooklyn studio and onto the laser lit floor of a legendary night club in NYC’s disco party pioneers’ collective memory (or to the b-side of a Some Girls-era Stones single). Exits’ lyrics examine a narcotic urban codependence from the advantage of a man lost in his own sort of space, an experience we can all identify with or at least dream to believe still happens as cities sterilize.

On the flipside, Tiago touches “So What’s” humanity with acid reflex and a heavy-hitting kick over two strobe-ready remixes. “So What (Tiago’s One Good Mistress Deserves Another Mix)” dune buggies the original’s riffs into sparse terrains before introducing a rich, reverbed Rhodes melody to bring us back home. “So What (Tiago’s One Good… Dub)” embraces the house tendencies of Tiago with a little more pep in its step. The icey colorations of the original track form a slippery but solid glacial floor, while the hand-held rhythms mutate between alien and human pulses.

Each 12″ from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. Brian DeGraw of Gang Gang Dance contributes the glass-eyed tropicalia cover art for So What. The 12″ packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling.

This exceptionally rare library album by Italian composer, musician, and guitarist Mario Molino was first released on the obscure library music imprint B.M.P. during the 1970s. It was later issued on the highly collectible Music Scene label rebranded as Action Beat Group (MSE-144), featuring different track titles and attributed to the pseudonym Luigi Ferracioli.

Although much about him remains unknown to this day, Mario Molino was a prominent figure in the world library music, celebrated for his genre-spanning versatility. On one hand, he was a virtuoso classical guitarist, while on the other, he had a strong foundation in jazz and contemporary music. This duality, spanning from classical guitar solos to spaced out psychedelic rock with fuzzed guitars, eccentric funk-infused Hammond organ grooves, proto-hip hop, and orchestral compositions, is reflected in his discography. His catalog includes rare and sought-after releases like Antico e Moderno (C 364) on Fonit's Usignolo series, Love on Vroommm Records, Beat Gregoriano on Montecarlo, I Beats on Pentaphon, alongside numerous library and soundtracks releases.

The Diamonds Four stands as a hidden gem in Molino's oeuvre, seamlessly aligning with his best releases, as it contains a superb blend of groovy psychedelic funk, breezy bossa nova, killer jazz beat tunes and expansive mood-music. With only a handful of original pressings ever surfacing over the years, The Diamonds Four (as well as the later issue as Action Beat Group) earned its status as a unique and widely valued record among library and soundtrack enthusiasts worldwide.

Since joining the Wah Wah 45s label in 2007, Scrimshire has released three albums of experimental cinematic jazz, and electronic sounds. Following his 2009 debut ‘Along Came The Devil One Night​’, his second album ‘The Hollow’ (2011) was a BBC 6 Music Album of the Week, with Gilles Peterson calling it “A late contender for album of the year”.

In the time since the release of his last album ‘Bight’ (“An eclectic range of influences ranging from disco to fusion to more contemporary electronic styles” XLR8R) in 2013, Adam has worked with long-time musical accomplice Dave Koor on new project Modified Man, and launched Albert’s Favourites releasing projects by The Expansions, Hector Plimmer and Jonny Drop. He has continued to gain radio and DJ support for his successful “Scrimshire Edits” series and has produced and mixed records for artist including Stac, Daudi Matsiko, Bastien Keb, Rōnin Arkestra, Jonny Drop. He has also continued to develop the Wah Wah 45s label, where he is now a co-owner and director.

We are honored and excited to present the ‘Drum’n Voice Remixed’ album by the legend Billy Cobham in collaboration with Italian’s finest music producers and composers Novecento. 

Acclaimed as jazz-rock fusion's greatest drummer, Billy Cobham has dedicated his whole life to musical exploration and creative expression. Throughout his career he has collaborated with artists like Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Airto Moreira, George Benson and appeared on over 300 recordings, including icons like Peter Gabriel, Quincy Jones, Jack Bruce, Bob Weir, and James Brown. Cobham’s dramatic, explosive power mixed with emotional spontaneity, extraordinary dexterity, and complex style of play brought him global attention and critical acclaim.  The first album ‘Spectrum’ is a masterpiece and still considered a reference album today. 

‘Drum’N Voice’ is a collaborative project with the Nicolosi family, known collectively as Novecento. After reaching the top of the European and American charts with their Italo Disco hits, they decided to explore new ideas and evolve their music leading to a jazz and ambient territory and collaborating with some incredible artists. 

The album, recorded between Milan, London, Los Angeles and New York, also feature collaborations with incredible artists like Eumir Deodato, Stanley Jordan, Frank Gambale, Gregg Kofi Brown, George Duke, Brian Auger, Bob Mintzer. Billy delivers an amazing creativity and listening experience that unveils its unique style in playing drums and percussions. 
The collection include amazing reworks from Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Danny Krivit, Folamour, S.A.M., Gerd Janson, Khidja, Boris Dlugosch & Cassara, Coeo and Lexx.

Tony Allen was a maestro. His torso wouldn’t move when he played the drums. He never hit hard, his speciality was extreme subtlety. He played the drums on "La Ritournelle" in one take, then he had to pick up his kid at school!
