Dirk Domin ( @dirkdomin ) is a Wuppertal-based freelance journalist, wine merchant, and DJ. In the latter role, he recorded this week’s Gratwanderung mix.

Despite his personal leanings toward jazz, dubstep, and UK bass, the mix turned out to be quite “housey” — featuring some fresh new favorites alongside a few deeply personal all-time classics. Some of these were intentionally chosen to evoke memories of the legendary Gewölbe club in Cologne and the iconic Kompakt label.

TETRA HYDRO returns to VISION SERPENT with WAKE UP, a stomping psytech weapon with razor-sharp sound design and tenacious drive, crafted to jolt the senses awake. JUST A DREAM follows, gliding on a rolling bassline and mechanical atmospheres, where short psy synth bursts echo like coded transmissions from another dimension. FOLIC STATE closes the release with a groovy minimal techno rework, transforming the original into a hypnotic pulse of pure rhythm.

Spanish producer Mistay makes his Recovery Collective debut with Cancri, a peak-time three-track EP built for high energy moments and late-night power.

The title track Cancri sets the tone immediately. The flavour is tense, hypnotic and driven by precise rhythmic control. India follows with a deeper, melodic-leaning progression, unfolding in waves of atmosphere and motion. Closing the release, Pluton delivers a bold, punchy groove with melodic touches that elevate its emotional impact.

A strong first appearance from a rising artist whose sound is built for big rooms and heavy floors.
