The idea for the record title came before the music even existed as Touch was spending an increasing amount of time in airports while touring. In her own words: ""It felt like I waste a large part of my life waiting for the next show to come, to entertain and perform my music and build timeless moments with others. This waiting, the slowly ticking time at the gate, was in complete contrast to what I want to do as an artist: to be in flux, to create things that will last forever. The airport, as a busy hub, was like a symbol of this ambivalence. And a reminder: every second, whether waiting or on the move, I have to accept that I am fading, that my creative power, my face, and my body are fading. As a (performing) artist, everything feels like a strange contrast. While you want to stay true to yourself and speak authentically from the soul, you are also expected to appear forever young, and powerful. Artists are often wanted to distract people, but creating this art forces me to confront my own transience. I feel the struggle to fit into this powerful artificial framework that the world has set and the desire to break free from it.

‘Aging at Airports’ plays with the ambiguity and ambivalence of being true to ourselves. Those true andhonest emotions are the theme of the record. The vocals and lyrics channel those emotions within theartificial surroundings of synths, digital sounds, and clean mixing. This theme is quite dramatic but Touch maintains a sense of playfulness. The record doesn’t attempt to be too serious and super dark but still comes from that deep place of Touch’s soul that has to handle this stretch.
From the opening track the album is a synth showcase that fully embraces Jennifer’s range as a vocalist and composer. ‘Aging at Airports’ takes listeners through a drifting emotional journey through EBM EBMinspired tracks (Behavior and Ceiling), drone pop (Walls of Patience and Anthem) and minimal beats (Dripping and Wars & Blood Red Roses) to close out with a track made for the darkest dance floors (Rumble (Defiance)).

Scattering for many years between different underground music genres, this frequency collided with the techno soundscape in 2016, creating an outburst of energy.
After he took the Belgian MUSICASA producer’s education, as a first step to pursuing his dream, he quickly released EP's and remixes on melodic techno labels such as SMR Underground, Melodia Records, Tanzgemeinschaft, and Papaya music.

After releasing and performing on various stages, and through the process of producing and self-awareness, he felt the melodic techno genre wasn’t the perfect reflection of what inspired and drove him.

In 2022 he had a change of heart as he started focusing more on
underground hypnotic, atmospheric and ambient techno, reaching for that inner spirit and dynamic balance. This resulted in releases on some of the biggest labels in the hypnotic scene like DORIAN, The Gods Planet, BAHN, Khoros, Informa, Space Textures, Arcadia,... with many more on the way.

Berlin’s live-electronic visionaries GHEIST join forces with Ukraine’s melodic house prodigy 8Kays for Flowers & Guns, a collaboration that blurs the lines between indie dance and progressive house. Following GHEIST’s Searching Places EP, which drew acclaim for its original tracks and remixes from Mark Hoffen, Oliver Koletzki, and Unfazed, this partnership marks a new chapter of artistic synergy.

"This track is the most special one for me so far," shares 8Kays. "It was born from hearing a spectacular and profound idea from GHEIST, which immediately inspired me to start working on it, incorporating a live piano performance and the arrangement I wanted to embrace with the sound I produced. Later, GHEIST shaped the project into the final version we hear today: a tender and emotionally deep piece of music that I am truly grateful to be part of."

Flowers & Guns merges GHEIST’s textured, dramaturgically rich electronic approach with 8Kays’ signature melodic depth and eloborate arrangements, weaving shimmering synths, rounded basslines, and live piano into a soundscape both expansive and intimate. Michael Mayer became obsessed with Erik Luebs, an American producer based in Osaka, after stumbling upon his independently released music on Bandcamp. Luebs’ talent for creating high-energy, minimalist acid techno with impeccable, futuristic sound design swiftly earned him a regular place in Mayer’s sets. It was only a matter of time before Luebs made his debut on Kompakt’s Speicher series with this highly versatile EP. ‘Riding the Blade’ opens the four-track EP, showcasing Luebs’ signature punchy psychedelia. ‘Scarlet Viscera’ features a sleek, minimal groove that is reminiscent of the genre’s heyday in the 2000s. ‘Transform Into Glass’ emanates blissful Detroit vibes, and the EP closes with a real bang: ‘Sucked Through Tube’ creates a frenzy on the dance floor without the need for a single kick drum. Wow, what an incredible few weeks it was in Thailand. Immersing myself in the culture and experiencing levels of kindness and generosity I didn't realise whole peoples could be capable of. Me and my partner fell in love with the country and cannot wait to go back. The beaches, the food, the pina coladas! (oh so many)

The festival was of course another huge amazing experience for me being the first international gig I had played. I was blown away by the production of the festival, over the moon when I found out only days before it that I had been moved from the second stage to the monstrous main stage. With this set I aimed to deliver something unique to the festival; a touch of Australia, a touch of Bassic and a touch of me.

A big thank you to my amazing girlfriend who I travelled with and supports me endlessly in my musical journeys <3

I was invited in to play on Bajes Radio streamed live from Bijlmerbajes: the famous old prison in Amsterdam that was recently transformed into a huge creative hub and refugee centre - with an aim to showcase wonderful initiatives, beautiful art and unseen talent.

This 90 minute mix features a sneak preview the next release on the label from myself and @Amuz_e, a remix of @Doppelau's Blacklight, out soon on our Symbiosis collaborative compilation via @RecoveryCollective x @BassicRecordings.

Also including a heap of my favourite tracks at the moment from artists such as: Tim Green, Undercatt, Innellea, Sascha Cawa, Schlepp Geist, Soul Button, Dizharmonia, Solemn Eye, Oliver Leib, Einmusik and more... 

Also had a little chat with host Tom Heringa towards the end of the set about the label, the forthcoming release and some upcoming shows in Amsterdam and Berlin.

The 2000's from the studio frizzled out the day before at a party in the prison, so had to adapt to some clapped out 400's - still really stoked with the turn-out though.
