Following a digital two-tracker last year on Unsustainable Records and a disco cover of M.C.S' 'Mr Policeman', Berlin-based collective Wax Museum are returning with another dose of melodic disco funk, taken from their new EP 'The Making Of'.

In signature style the five-track release—written between 2019 and 2020—is a melange of satirical lyricism, contrapuntal melodies and buoyant keys, all of which come into focus on opening track 'Off The Hook', which is accompanied by an incredible video by director Anna Argiros.

We are happy to welcome our talented buddy Fufi.SNC on the label. Hailing from Ingolstadt, a city one hour away from Munich, Fufi is no stranger to the scene and was on our radar for quite some time now. He is one third of the ever amazing SNC crew, a party and label collective, and has been impressing us with his breakbeat-heavy analog live sets over the past years. After his debut EP on Marlon Hoffstadt’s „Savour The Moment“ label in 2020 he joins the Slam City Jams family with the „Monsterra Mansion“ EP.

We are starting things off with „Back Strike“, a breakbeat monster full of irresistible rave stabs, heavy sub bass and a beautiful crying acid line. Next up you find the hidden hit of this EP: „Raves On Sundays“ featuring the mysterious DJ Kolibri. A tune full of tension, that keeps on building up with a dramatic 303 melody you won’t get out of your head for some time. On the flip we have „Running Home“ - a super deep acid breakbeat affair for the late hours (even though this probably means 10pm these days). Finally the EP is rounded off by the title track: „Monsterra Mansion“ is a stripped back up-tempo four to the floor jam, with a grooving bass and dreamy chords that fans of Roza Terenzi will love. Fufi.SNC treats us with four dope tunes written in times of isolation, but made for days were we all meet again on the floor.

The 9th release on Lisbon's dance agitators Rave Tuga is on the way: an EP, available on tape and digital by local mainstay Diogo who's been loyally serving the dancefloors of Lisbon in the past few years via his sick DJing and productions. Recruits for the remixer role are other two legends of our scene: genius clubkid Stasya and spot-on dance composer Moreno Ácido

Acid and jacking flavours gladly meet again, with an added ray of local sunshine, on the opener 'Paz d'Alma'. The skillfully programmed 303 lines keep going throughout the album, on the A3 accompanied by a sick electro groove and emotional pads and some bleepy chill-packed vibes on the A4.

The B side switches gears into techno territory, with steady hi hats guiding the groove; relentlessness pervading on 'Brick & Mortar'. Stasya steps in to remix the title track with a dramatic take chock-full of hyperpop stabs, sentimental chipmunk vocals and re-constructed clubby beats, the Lisbon way. Moreno Ácido takes the scenic route with dubbed out harmonies and warm, blissed-out beats and bass.

All proceeds from this EP will go to HuBB - Humans Before Borders, a platform for action against inhumane and illegal treatment of migrants and refugees.

The New York City by way of Belgrade producer pillages the hypnotic beats of the 1980s Belgian new beat movement on his four track debut EP. With the additional flavors of Italo-disco and freestyle, all overtop the decidedly EBM bassline movements, the EP’s grooves are dangerously addictive as it twists and turns through moody atmospheres. Impulse was written during lockdown and, as Facets notes, was put together in haste: “It was produced somewhat fast,” he says, “and just had this impulse to finish and work on music at that time.”

“My Voice” finds strength in its repetition and trance-like rhythm; its clandestine and mesmerizing sample sets the attitude for the rest of the EP as it demands, “Relax… and accept it.” The track “New Dawn” feels like an extension of the new beat artist, Shakti, with its Middle Eastern-influenced synths that bellow over its chugging bassline. Acting as a peak hour track, “Impulse” demands attention with its synth stabs akin to the Rhythm Device banger, “Acid Rock”—here, Facets’ own interpretation is a powerful addition to the new beat genre. Finally, “Rush” manages to blend dance aesthetics together to create a sleek, polished result that could be compared to his fellow label mate, Curses. Impulse is an exciting first offering from Facets as an arsenal of reimagined underground club tracks that are fresh but, at the same time, remain familiar as a tribute to past dance movements.

Takeshi Kouzuki returns to the ALLEY VERSION label for sharing with the
brothers duo FLML, the split mini-LP “Tracks From The Alley”.

From his early cult releases for Mathematics Recordings, Takeshi Kouzuki, as in these new tracks, keeps crossing the old schoolhouse with his recognizable classy signature. 

The warm but hitting acid of “福”, opens the Takeshi Kouzuki’s side, while in the second track “1986” deep-and-dark synthetic magic atmospheres are driven by the beating of the twins TR707 and TR727 drum machines. “Yellowacid” burns in its acid-jackin’ madness. 

Opening FLML’s side “Hot Spread” is obscure jackin’ techno mechanical psychedelia, the following “Jack That Strings” is a pure raw windy city deep‘n’acid track. In the closing “Does Mean It’s You” a freaky FM synth melody is driven by the pulsing of liquid and creepy analog synths and drums, while an 8-bit sampled Andy Warhol’s speaking fragment marks the space until dies in delay feedback.

“Tracks From The Alley” is released exclusively on limited 12” vinyl.
