Red Rack’em returns with a surefire summer smash ‘Italo Disco Banger’ which immediately evokes the most euphoric festival vibes ever.

The feedback has been INSANE with Gerd Janson immediately responding ‘Sounds like a hit!’ and huge support from a wide range of artists including DJ Harvey, Crazy P, Roman Flugel, Luke Una, Leon Vynehall, Avalon Emerson, Jamie 3:26 and many more.

Early demos were road tested at Glastonbury and Love International and the response was a huge motivator to get Danny back in the studio to complete the record against the clock.

He’s been busy supporting other artists with his ‘How I Program’ Community which has become a fertile space for DJs and Producers across the world, with Artist Development and Masterclasses from some of the best Production talent out there.

So this record was an ‘unexpected surprise’ but a very welcome one.

Italo Disco Banger does what it says on the tin and more. Tailor made for Tisno and Adriatic vibes, from the first few bars of the heart tugging, eyes closed intro, you’re locked into a beautiful, sun kissed joyous ride. Of course there’s still some of that signature wonk simmering away in the background. Arpeggiating basslines, breathy vocals, cut up disco samples and hints of the trademark donky bass make for a heady, festival ready vibe. Stick this on and watch it work its magic.

Hotline is another party starter anthem. No soft B sides here. Taut Brit Funk esque guitars jangle away frenetically while a muscular groove rolls out. Occasional shades of deepness flicker in from the background but without losing the ecstasy vibes. A heads down filtered disco sub bass club wrecker.

Don’t call it a comeback ;)

He’s hit discotheque paydirt once more with the euphoric tropical disco house burner vibes of ‘Secret Banger’. The feedback has been insane with early support from a wide range of tastemakers including Make A Dance, Nikki Nair, Luke Una, Boris Dlugosch and Gallegos, it’s a crossover, summer magic jam, perfect for those Adriatic or Balearic mornings. 

Secret Banger is an instant classic. Perfectly pitched for festival sunshine and late night heads down parties. It’s a ‘moment’ track, combining the biggest vocal hook this side of Daft Punk, ecstasy pads, tropical boogie strut and the trademark Rack’em club shaking sub bass. Some words on Marc below...

Marc Nicholas has been an integral part of the UK Jazz Dance scene for decades on both sides of the decks. A gifted dancer who's been dancing to hardcore fusion jazz since the late 90s, Marc plays at legendary UK jazz dance nights Out To Lunch, Shiftless Shuffle and runs his own amazing Sunday Session The Jazz Quarterly in his home town Swindon. He's got very broad taste so expect to hear bop, samba, Latin, fusion, soulful house, broken beat, soul, jazz funk and more.

Jus' Mix is a new mix series focussing on jazzier DJs who are connected  with the Jus' Move events in Bristol. Huge thanks to Brussels based vocalist, musician, music producer and DJ Rosie From The Block aka @roselienmusic for creating our second mix.

Rosies mix begins with some lovely mellow vibes from Bobby Humphrey, Rare Silk and Gilberto Gil before smoothly transitioning into more broken climes with tracks by Cody Currie, Silhouette Brown, Don Pascal and Rosie herself. Towards the end of the mix we're even treated to couple of exclusives with unreleased remixes of Rosie From The Block by Sean McCabe and Trinidadian Deep.

Some words on Rosie...

Rosie From The Block is the new broken beat leaning project by Belgian multi instrumentalist and vocalist Roselien who's made killer contemporary soul tracks and performed alongside Gregory Porter, Meshell Ndegeocello and Anthony Jospeh. She's just released her second RFTB single 'Believe In It' for Phuture Shock. 

2023 looks to be a big year for her with remixes of her Phuture Shock EP in the pipeline as well as ongoing work with Sean McCabe, Wipe The Needle and a remix for Melbourne artist Don Glori.  Rosie is also in demand as a producer for other artists with a 4 track EP coming out later this year by Brussels based Mahina which was produced by Rosie. One to watch!

Jus' Mix 002: Rosie From The Block (Roselien, Brussels)

I played at HÖR on my recent trip to Berlin at the end of May and I had a BLAST! 

It felt great to get in there straight off the plane (I landed 1 hour 25 mins before the start time - was tight!) and get stuck in. I LOVE mixing 2 tunes together and making something new from them. It's really a joy. 

My set was 100% improvised, I don't use sync or rekordbox and I hadn't heard 90% of the tunes before apart from checking they were good enough to play so it was really fresh feeling for me to play them and I think that came across in the vibes. 

I also had an amazing time playing the outdoor area of Heidegluhen on Saturday afternoon too. It went really well  - I got a standing ovation at the end and even gave a short speech - I basically said 'I can't do it without you guys so thank YOU'. My first time playing outdoors there and it was unforgettable. Huge thanks to everyone who came along. 

Feeling very grateful and rejuvenated from that weekend!

I was asked to remix this Gospel disco classic and it ended up being the lead track on the promo twelve for the Tirk 02 compilation. Massive thanks to Gilles Peterson and Greg Wilson for their support with this track. It was released in Feb 2009.

The Joubert Singers - Stand On The Word (Hot Coins Remix) (Tirk)

On Sunday 13th of February 2011, I was honoured to be the guest DJ at Out To Lunch in Nottingham. Out To Lunch was held at this point on the second Sunday of every month at Pandoras Box, Hounds Gate, Nottingham and was one of only 2 regular jazzdance sessions held in the UK. It features incredibly high octane jazz, latin, hard bop and fusion music and the dancers travel from across the UK to attend.

In short, it’s a truly unique cultural experience and with a 3 year waiting list to play at it, I was really pleased to receive a call just before Christmas 2010 from stalwart resident DJ and promoter Killer Jim to ask if I would like to play my second set at the club. Previous guests have included Snowboy, Tony Hylton, Seymour Nurse and Perry Louis, so you can imagine how nervous I was beforehand.

It went really well though and the dancers (mainly comprising of the seriously talented Jazzcotech crew) were really responsive and welcoming, shouting and clapping between songs which soon got rid of my nerves.

The best bit was the section that began with Arch Tight and ended with P’taah. I had been playing mainly jazz and latin up until that point and although everyone had been into it, things noticeably stepped up a gear with the inclusion of some more broken, electronic sounds. Massive thanks to all the dancers who were there and even bigger thanks to Killer Jim for asking me to play again.

This was the first time I ever met Move D, I was booked by Alex Traska to play with Move D on a Sunday afternoon in Saltwater in Nottingham and I remember it being a very 'wonky' time - pretty sure I was hitting the Wray and Nephews by this point of the weekend. Defo some shady mixing on here! 

David actually recorded the whole thing as I think he had a zoom or something so he kindly sent me the recording. It's nice to hear a snapshot of what I was playing back then - and there's also some unreleased Hot Coins stuff - which ended up on the 'Laissez Faire' EP which was released on Society Records by my friend Solid State.

Monday SC Clip

 It’s a tradition that every time I’m in Sydney, I guest on Simon Caldwells LEGENDARY Monday night Sunset session on FBI Radio and it’s always a great experience.

On Monday night, I hit the hallowed decks at FBI and got to play some of my favourite records and we also had a good chat about my teaching work, my latest productions, streaming and of course our sold out event at Sydney Opera House this Saturday.

Shouts to Maddy for her rock solid producer work on the show too.

Simon has played a huge role in me playing in Australia over the years and this year, I was invited to play at Sydney Opera House at his legendary Mad Racket party as part of the legendary Vivid Sydney festival. I was gobsmacked.

So I realised recently that I had live streamed my DJ set at Smart Bar in Chicago on Facebook (remember doing stuff like that?) while on a completely amazing coast to coast tour of the USA in 2019. So that means I can rip the audio and here we have slightly over 1 hour of my set from that night. 

Huge thanks to Roger That from Playground Records for booking me at the legendary Smart Bar - it was an honour to finally play there. 

It's really cool to hear what I was playing on that tour 6 years later - was such a great time! I would have been back sooner but alas my visa ran out before the Covid restrictions were lifted and it's such a faff to get a new one. I will be back! 

I have a funny memory of Michael Serafini rushing the booth because I'd played 'Manhood' by Vikter Duplaix and he'd 'not heard it for years' - it meant a lot to have people like Michael come to support. Shouts to Oren and Katherine who played some great stuff - it was a brilliant night.

Bristol, UK based producer and DJ Red Rack’em returns to the sample heavy electronic sound he's been pioneering on tracks like 'Wonky Bassline Disco Banger' and 'Deep In Love' over the past few years. 

2019 has already seen him launch the Disco Banger imprint to great success amongst other material on Bergerac and here he returns to his latest venture with more twisted Disco House cuts.

Title-cut ‘WYBES’ leads the package, laid out over ten minutes with choppy piano stab samples, gritty drums, funk-infused bass licks and chanting vocal loops all loosely flowing together to create a dynamic disco-house workout. ‘E’ follows, laying the foundation with jazzy broken drums and cut up vocals alongside spacey gated synth swells and a wandering arpeggio synth line before ‘Stevie’ rounds out the release with a G-Funk feel, fusing moog style synth licks, crunchy drums and cinematic strings.

I was randomly asked to cover for Iron Curtis last night at super underground Berlin venue Griessmuehle which is club in an old factory/industrial estate in deepest Neukolln. I was incredibly hung over as I had been out all saturday night dancing to Al Kent at Cassiopeia but it's often the surprise gigs which are the best ones. I turned up at about 8pm and immediately had 2 shots of Jager to try to get on some kind of level with the crowd who were definitely in the zone. 

I played the last set at the party, from 9pm-midnight in the outside area and it ended up being one of my most enjoyable DJ experiences in Berlin so far. The interesting thing was that even though the sound was really quiet due to licensing restrictions, everyone was going mad to the music. It was really special. 

Big shouts to Philipp, Rene, Frank and Chris who came along to support me - really makes a difference when there's some close mates in the crowd when you're playing at a mad Berlin after hours. It can be a bit daunting on your own... 

The mixing is not perfect at times due to my monitor being on too loud (it was louder than the system for the last 2 hours) but I think the 'special' vibe is definitely captured in the recording. 

It means so much to me that I get to play at these kind of parties. The only problem is it just makes me want to do it even more..

Since returning to the UK (after 8 years in Berlin), he's been releasing killer records like 'Wonky Techno Banger', 'Overthinking' and his Red Baron collab with Ron Basejam from Crazy P (huge support from Gerd Janson, Avalon Emerson and more), as well as undertaking huge tours of USA, India and Asia playing at clubs like Tag in Chengdu (Chinas Berghain), Rhonda in LA (one of the hottest pan sexual parties in the US) and Smart Bar in Chicago.

He's a super adaptable DJ, just as comfortable playing blazing disco boogie at Pickle Factory in London, deep house at TV Lounge in Detroit or raw swingy techno at Mothers Finest in Berlin.
