David, King Of Israel has everything at his disposal - people, palaces, riches, yet in this psalm he recognises that he has nothing without God who is his refuge. We have many other "gods", or rather, idols, that take our attention away from God, yet we are often blind to these idols, particularly when our whole society and econmic system is built around these things.

James takes us through Psalm 37, where the psalmist shows two different ways of life - the way of evil or the way of righteousness. It's like choosing a "team" to follow. James challenges us to follow the "winning" team of righteousness by following God and Jesus, even though that seems like the hardest choice. But paraphrasing the English government during WWII, James suggests that we remain calm and carry on our lives.

Josh takes us through Psalm 3, David pours out his heart to God. Unfortunately, many churches in the past have taught people not to bear their true emotions to God in prayer. Yet that is exactly what David does in this psalm as he reflects on his problems and where he sees the only one who can save him from this danger is God himself. Josh teaches us to be honest with God - after all, he knows what we're feeling anyway so it's easier to be truthful and honest about our emotions and struggles.

Jemima takes us through Psalm 6. David pours out his heart to God where he is in turmoil and fear due to his actions that deserve discipline. However by the end of the psalm David knows that God has heard his prayer. The psalm does not tell us if David's concerns have been remedied, but it does tell us that David is at peace with his emotions and with God.
Jemima suggests that when we have concerns and worries we should take them to God.

James takes us through Psalm 23. This well known psalm tells the story of how God is our shepherd, but James makes an interesting point. Shepherds work with a flock of sheep, but this psalm reflects on our God having a personal relationship with each and every one of us - He shepherds us each individually and personally. He also points out that a sheep cannot survive without the shepherd's guidance and assistance - and it is the same with us - we do not survive well without God's shepherding of us.

Today Pastor Jonathan teaches that one of the reasons why Jesus came to die was to defeat the devil. Some christians focus too much on the devil and his powers, while others are almost flippant about Satan. Pastor Jonathan uses biblical texts to show us
how to find the right balance between these two extremes, so that we are aware of Satan and his attempts to distract us from God, but also aware that there is nothing he can do to us because Jesus's death and resurrection has disarmed the devil from his most powerful weapon.

Tonight, Maundy Thursday Pastor Jonathan teaches that one of the reasons why Jesus came to die was to set an example for us. The latin word Maundy means "command" and it is from this latin term that we get our word "mandate". So on this night, Jesus mandated his disciples, which includes us, to live our lives like he did by loving others and loving sacrificially. "He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried."
John shows us that Christianity could be easily falsified by simply proving that Jesus did not die. However, history has proven that he did in fact die and was buried. He didn't "sort of die", he 100% died and was buried.

Mental Health is a huge issue in our culture. Today there is less stigma around mental illlness, but it still exists.
This seminar looks at mental health from a Christian perspective. This session is presented by Dr Rod Smith, a psychiatrist.
He looks at what defines a mental health disorder and discusses treatment options available. However, Rod does not just look at
treating mental health disorders with medications, though that is his area of expertise. He looks at treatment in a holistic manner due to his understanding from Psalm 139 that people are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Today Pastor Jonathan is taking us through the fourth topic in our series on The Apostle's Creed - Jesus: Risen And Ascended. Though the creed is not scripture, it clearly states beliefs that all Christians hold - the beliefs that are consistent across all churches and denominations. 
The statements contained in the creed are all substantiated by scripture. This message looks at the fourth line of The Creed:
“On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven”

If there is no resurrection, then Christianity has no hope, and we ought to be pitied because of our belief and "weird" behaviour. Similarly, if Jesus did not ascend to heaven, then he is not ruling, and we are submitting to a lie. However, if Jesus did rise again and is seated in heaven then our entire lives and actions must be modelled around that belief.
