We find ourselves this week at the end of the New Testament. God has been silent for 400 years. The people of God have brought false gods into the temple. Men abandoned their wives, and left them destitute in a system that left no protection for them. Their whole world is broken and hopeless. But God had made His people promises to make it all right again. We pray you find hope as well through this sermon from Malachi.

It's hard to imagine the humiliation of this scene where Jesus steps up from the table and wraps towel around his waist and begins to wash the disciples feet. There's just no modern contextual equivalent. It's quite literally the most scandalous and shocking thing Jesus could have done that night. In this sermon on John 13 we look at why Jesus humiliates himself to wash his disciples feet, and why it's so hard to follow this footwashing God.

He's lifting you up, holding you, and pruning you so that you will be a branch that bears good fruit!

Jesus says the helper is better. But do we really believe that?
