I'm delighted to share my opening set for the launch of the ST event series from June 7th at Sanctuary - setting the tone for a phenomenal night, and laying the groundwork for new and exciting adventures to look forward to.

For this special occasion, I had the pleasure of inviting Brooklyn's @soitgoesradio crew (Mike Isai, Moya, & Mike Martinez) in what turned out to be a huge success, bringing a plethora of fresh sounds to the city.

"Somnus" is the Roman god of sleep. A "protocol" implies a scientific, systematic procedure. So, the album is presented as an auditory log of a clinical experiment—a series of controlled ventures into the human subconscious. This clinical, detached framing creates a cool contrast with the deep, emotional, and often chaotic nature of dreams, which is perfect for the dub/deep techno sound.

We continue our story with the deep, delicate sounds and beautiful music of Hiroyuki Kajino.

Hiroyuki is a driving force for dance music in Japan, having run some of the countries best record shops and pioneering the DJ mix format on FM Yokohama. Starting out as a new wave DJ and later on focusing on hip hop, he soon released a record on one Major Force, one of the most prevalent hip hop labels of the time. He later worked with Masabumi Kikuchi on deep house and  opened for the legendary Larry Levan of Paradise Garage fame. 

Today he’s focused on making new music and his sounds can be heard on labels such as All Day I Dream, Everything Will Be OK and Loot Recordings to name a few. His new remix with Yuichiro Kotani of SIlence Path “Alternative Reality” is a deep affair of rolling drums and warm piano melodies. We hope you enjoy the story Hiroyuki tells through his gentle rhythms and emotive style.
