DJ MARCIA CARR

London born and raised, globe trotting music selector and tastemaker Marcia Carr, also known as Marcia DaVinylMC has been contributing to the UK dance music scene over four decades already.  She’s a stalwart, an aficionado, and a woman who’s definitely not content with sitting still.

As a DJ – in the last few years she's helds residencies at Jazz Cafe, The Cause and Soho House – her club sets weave together a plethora of sounds that pay homage to the Black roots of dance music – past, present and future.  You can find her spinning everything from house to disco, gospel, funk and dubstep, but there’s always a distinct soulfulness or jazzy touch that permeates her selections

That versatility is something she’s honed over the years from playing at venues across the world with some of the biggest names in house, Detroit techno and broken beat, on top of hosting regular broadcasts on different radio stations, including Rinse FM - alongside guest appearances on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, Reprezent, Soho Radio, Balamii - her monthly show "¡Take the Con!" on theboatpod.com draws in a diverse support of followers.

But not only will you find Marcia front of house, she also works behind the scenes helping others with their own musical endeavours.   

Marcia is currently receiving much interest for her joint compilation album project 'Soul Damn Funky' Vol. 2, a release with Brighton's Russell Ruckman.   

As well as being a music journalist and independent consultant, she also runs music PR and artist agency, Talking Music Productions, and is the founder of Girlz B Like – a vinyl-only platform held at Grow, its home in Hackney Wick that spotlights women selectors and DJs - celebrating their tenth birthday in the autumn of  2025, with the release of a debut, limited edition 7-inch vinyl release to mark the milestone.
