Late last October I was invited to play a warm-up set for the inaugural weekend of Horst Club. The perfect occasion to prepare something special, I took a stroll through my record collection and went deep into the stuff I’ve had for ages but was maybe too dark or strange to play. Starting off slow, this set winds through some kooky obscure percussion, intermittent bleeps, cosmic sparkles, apocalyptic voice samples (‘it’s the end of the world’, ‘can we change the future’).
My main aim was to arrive at the final track by Deg aka Circadian Rhythms… and after 2 hours and 22 minutes my mission was accomplished! As I handed the controls over to Marco Shuttle, he said it was a very ‘British’ selection… I guess I can’t help myself. 😀

Albert, based in Brooklyn, New York, is one of those heroes that never requests a spotlight, but is consistently dedicating time and care to contribute to some of the spaces and places that the NYC & Brooklyn house and techno community holds so dear. 

Throwing long standing and much loved parties like Bob & Shirley, working tirelessly behind the scenes at a festival that has garnered global critical acclaim, throwing down all night long at Mansions, or as an always welcome and smiling face on a sun lit dance floor, Albert (Ash) has been continuously refining her DJing craft, and we couldn't be more excited to share a slice of it with you for Doof Spawn 012.

"On the second night of the festival, a usually quiet Nordic forest hums with life. A slow, steady rhythm starts the set, drawing dancers into a hypnotic flow as the misty summer air lingers and the trees sway around them. As the night deepens, the music builds—layered and psychedelic—until it reaches a peak where time blurs and everything feels slightly unreal."

Doof Spawn 012: Albert - A Nordic night in the woods

The incredible crew behind LE LAC invited me to play a downtempo set. I brought a selection of ambient and minimal tracks, as well as stripped-down percussion pieces that surprisingly made the sunrays shine through the imposing windows of the beautiful space. The room slowly but surely filled with familiar faces while I was sinking into that ridiculously comfortable couch, making it all feel like a perfect Sunday on a Saturday.
