“Dragged through fields, and left behind” screams lead vocalist Ezra Simons, aptly portraying the feelings of gloom and disorientation felt throughout the listening of Red Sky Blues’ self-titled debut album. Alongside Ezra are Patrick Hickley, David Benge and Jonathan Nott who make up the heavy-hitting psychedelic fuzz-rock band from Wellington. Since 2011 the four-piece have gained an audience around New Zealand by touring extensively and playing tight, loud and passionate DIY shows. It’s at these live shows where the sound they strive for truly shines through - reverb washed guitars blaring through vintage tube amps, overdriven bass tones, fluid and skillfully executed percussion and high energy vocals. 

Their forthcoming album was recorded by James Goldsmith at Blue Barn, and mastered by Brad Boatright in Portland. It consists of songs written and reworked over the years they’ve been playing together as well as a few more recent numbers. The listening experience will take you on a journey to somewhere between rural New Zealand and outer space. Expect to be knocked around and kept forever on your toes by the time-changes and satisfying riff-driven grooves.
