Deersky’s Soundteller Records opens the month of September by welcoming 2UP and Sergio Avila for a collaborative EP. Based in Chicago, Sergio made his Soundteller debut in 2020 with a contribution to the label’s popular ‘Vibrant Vibeland’ series. Meanwhile, 2UP who is based in Mexico makes his label debut. Together the duo have delivered a well received release for Dear Deer’s Black division and now they join forces once again on Soundteller with ‘Introspection’.

Known for their peak time sounds, the title selection continues the duo’s penchant for unabashedly epic music. Firing beats, machine gun style rhythms and a tight, rolling arp lay the foundation for a smashing dance floor slam. Vocal overlays add depth and character at timely moments as atmospheric phrasing, buzzing stabs and glassy clusters marry for magic moments leading into the break. Progressively more melodic across the centrepiece, the duo elevates mood with symphonic style motifs, before pulling back for a hypnotic drop and driving finale.

The companion piece ‘The Under’ lowers the tempo a touch but is equally powerful with it’s muscular groove and devilish electronics. Once again vocal elements add a complementary touch, playing off delicate arps and timely clap delays across the first act. The main break serves to elevate mood through further development of the vocal, before wisely pulling back for a thumping drop and key changing finish. It rounds out two monstrous tracks from 2UP and Sergio Avila, a duo who seem to have found a great creative synergy. Highly recommended.

Following on from ‘The Light’, Ziger and Mind Conspiracy return to Eat My Hat with ‘Metamorphosis’. Released last month, ‘The Light’ saw the frequent studio partners work more magic together, creating a colourful, progressive minded composition which ranks as one of their most well received to date. Now embarking on their fourth joint production the Greek duo unveil their latest studio creation entitled ‘Metamorphosis’, alongside a remix from Alexander Savvidi.

Beginning with the pulsating grooves of the Original Mix, Ziger and Mind Conspiracy marry fluid rhythms with heady effects and astral synth phrasing. Driving percussive arrangements and timely melodic accents add nicely to its mediative pulse, before a wave of ethereal vocal gates brings a new dimension to the track. Tense and mind bending in equal measure, the main break elevates mood further through wavy modulation and haunting effects, eventually giving way to a timely build, striking crescendo and exhilarating finale.

Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Metamorphosis’ is Alexander Savvidi. Hailing from the South of Russia, Alexander Savvidi is a composer and live-performer who entered the electronic music underground after a decade of work in the film industry. His HOROSHO imprint has served as the primary home for his powerful rhythms and atmospheric melodies, while international tastemakers such as Eelke Kleijn and Newmand have already supported his wor. Now adding Eat My Hat to his resume, Alexander debuts on the label with a stunning rendition of ‘Metamorphosis’. Backed by a tough, techno inspired groove, Alexander’s buzzing basslines and deliberate percussion quickly appease the senses. The main themes translate well with the primary synth lead and time-stretched vocals adding their own otherworldly flair. Quirky acid lines further saturate your senses, panning across the stereo field, while playing off emotive chord changes below, and ultimately making this breakless journey incredibly satisfying. A unique and inspired remix from Alexander Savvidi, which rounds out another memorable collaboration from Ziger and Mind Conspiracy. Don’t miss it.
