Ramrock Red Records are delighted to be releasing this outstanding remix EP ‘Uptown Bridges’ from Edinburgh’s very own Movers International. Executive producer of the original version of ‘Uptown Bridges’, Joseph Malik , took the track from his ‘Stranger Things’ collaborative LP and handed it over to Gavin and James to rework in their inimitable Movers International style. The result is a beautiful afro futurist remix with wonderful psychedelic dance overtones featuring the brooding vocals of Einstein Madiro, Paulo Riddle’s intricate percussion, Steven Christie’s keyboards weaving into the composition and the compelling horns of Chris Greive and Colin Steele. As is often the case at Ramrock Records, the infamous yet elusive D.Foe heard the track and said that they’d love to remix the remix, adding their signature dance chaos to the already brilliant track. Finally, James and Gavin join forces with ‘bone maestro, Chris Greive to revisit their track, ‘Lip Bam (Revisited)’, changing up the mood to a slightly sinister, acidic, cinematic instrumental. Forming Movers International has been the perfect opportunity for the duo to explore a more organic recording style, compared to the techno roots of Main Ingredient. Working with a horn section, guitars, vocals and a live percussionist, this solid platform of musicality forms the basis of their debut ‘Uptown Bridges’ EP – available on Bandcamp. Watch out for Movers International on Joseph Malik’s forthcoming ‘Diverse Pt.3’ remix EP……
Movers International are DJ/production duo Jimmy Jammin’ and Gavin Fort, born out of Main Ingredient, an Edinburgh based collective known for throwing warehouse parties, performing live with analogue machines, sharing a stage with Peggy Gou, collaborating on the giant 909 featured at Bestival, working on sound design for computer games, multimedia performances based on the psychoactive properties of mushrooms at the Edinburgh Science Festival, performing as part of Edinburgh’s illustrious Easter Road Northern Soul Band and working with fellow musicians and producers such as Digital Liquid, Perrier Jazz Award winner Niki King and most recently with jazz singer Ariane Mamon.  As Main Ingredient, they released music on Paradise Palms, New Teeth and Bullet:dodge Records, as well as remixing the likes of Marshall Jefferson and Robert Owens

Super duper excited to be dropping number 24 in our series from another good pal and very talented bean, the lovely Admin.

Adam should be something of a familiar name by now, as one of the leading lights of the Bristol disco/funk/rare groove scene. He's been travelling across Europe and around the UK of late, playing alongside some of the absolute best in the game, and showing off what he can do. He's also dropped a couple of stellar 7" records in the last couple of years - 'Step Into Light' and 'Halo' - which were both immediate buy on sight material, with the former receiving lofty praise from the mighty Luke Una.

We first crossed paths through our friend Jake's party 'Tzara', and had an absolute blast hanging out, chatting records, and then playing them late in to the night at the party. We then met behind the decks again at Westival with a 6hr b4b between Adam, Jake, and ourselves, and it was easily one of our highlights of the year.

This mix shows off his inimitable style, with an incredible selection of records, mixed about as smoothly as it gets. Enjoy!

On May 25th 2024, to accompany the launch of his Arthur Russell book "Travels Over Feeling" Richard King put together an event at London's Barbican celebrating Arthur's life with an all star musical cast recreating and reimagining his music.

I was thrilled to be invited to play a DJ set in the foyer afterwards. I have been an Arthur Russell devotee for 30 years and decided to play an all Arthur Russell DJ set*. The atmosphere was very special with lots of love transmitting back and forth from the DJ booth to the dancefloor. I really felt a freedom to slowly build it up playing so many of my favourite AR tracks and it was one of my very favourite DJ gis of 2024 so far.


*Full disclosure - there was an additional 30 minutes finale of this set that didn't record where I played non Arthur Russell, disco / disco adjacent records.

Taking the reins for the second edition are our co-founders and resident chuggers, Dar & Holten. They met a few years ago and immediately bonded over the love of the slower, weirder side of things, a mutual appreciation shared by Feargal got us all together and the rest is history.  

The lads sat down and recorded this one on the fly a few months ago, the only focus was to share some of the tunes they’ve both been feeling lately. The mix features labels and artists such as Optimo Music, Witness Protection Programme, Andrew Weatherall, Manfredas, Sound Metaphors and many more that have helped to inform and shape their musical tastes.
