Song written during Summer recording of 2011 under heavy inspiration by Interpol and The Strokes and bands like that. I thought it'd be an interesting experimentation adding lots of reverb and leaving the vocals to peak at the higher volumes, similar to those of The Twilight Sad. The heavily distorted synth solo was just a midi synth with fuck off distortion.

A song we wrote during the Summer recordings again intended as being the 2nd on the EP. We had been recording for 8 hours during the day on this track and foolishly had all forgotten to save before the Mac crashed (a ha Jobs, not so incredible now are they?) so we had to wake up at 8am and carry on recording. The foot steps at the beginning are Stuart's leather boots on wooden floorboards.
We used a home made trash hat for the trashy cymbal and a vuvuzela to shout through for the vocals.

Tandem Kat County Cricketers - The One That Got Away... (2)

This was a hefty one written over the course of a few months called Jewel. We wanted the track to have a progressive/post-rock feel to it. It consists of 3 sections, an acoustic Part at the beginning, the ambient part in the middle and a distorted shoegazing fugue (for lack of better words), at the end. For the beginning part Jordan borrowed his Father's fretless bass. The middle part was purely midi synth settings edited to our liking. The end part guitar was tuned down to drop Bb and a warwick 5 string was played for the bass, it also consisted of layers and layers of distorted synth and an electric piano passage repeating influenced by Vessels. Due to the distorted ominous feel I felt that the time signature was suitable as it gave the whole soundscape a disjointed limp.

An almost completely unproduced track with no use of a metronome. We wanted the raw loungy feel of it to be a more familiar and human setting to come after the huge fantastical track before it. It features all of us on the piano at the same time and myself and Stuart playing the same drum kit (with myself hitting the sides of the drums to produce the clicks heard throughout the song) Very King Crimson atonal free time ending.

The inspiration for this EP is our failure to collaborate as we normally would due to Stuart breaking his hand a fortnight before the writing and recording jam session date thingy

This track we did one afternoon after listening to a load of King Crimson and psychedelic stuff the night before. The "guitar solo" was played by Stuart with his hand in a cast we thought it appropriate.
