This is gonna sound so cliché
But it seems just like yesterday
Kindergarten naps and snacks
Recess, little league, and Bieber backpacks
...when we were young, and innocent
 
Walking home after school playing video games
Trying to play it cool but she doesn’t even know your name
Took a chance, worth the risk
First school dance, your first kiss
...we’re growing up, way too fast
 
And that poolside summer fun
Living each day like it’s your last one
Traded night lights for Twitter fights
Traded skateboards and bikes for fast cars and date nights
You can relax, Dad, my grades aren’t that bad
And I got a job, now I got it made ‘cause I’m getting paid
...and don’t cry, Mom...It’s only Prom

Look at me, watch what I can do
Said I’m gonna show this world a thing or two
But I haven’t got it figured out just yet...
And that’s okay
 
Life’s a journey, not a destination to be reached.
And just when you think you’ve got it all figured out,
Life has another lesson to teach
 
Now here we are, you’ve come so far
Don’t stop now, the world is waiting
To see you shine, your future’s bright
It’s wide open for the taking
Don’t be afraid, it’s okay
There’s so much you’ve yet to learn

POEM FULL OF PROMISES

A poem full of promises
costume shops and downtown cafes
Lipstick movie stars don't understand
this thing I think I know I think I have
the perfect plan to make her understand
on her windshield wiper waiting to be seen

A poem full of promises
brand new butterflies and dressed up daisies
One look, she took, and ripped it up
Suppose I'll go, I've seen enough
Like feathers from her hands it fell
a ton of bricks, pieces all around

I can't believe (it's on the ground)

Just perfect, I have never felt so good
Not worth my time and that's well understood
Move over, someone's got a lot to learn
I told her how I felt, and I got burned
If only I had not been so naive
She's thrown me, but I just cannot believe

I'll roll around here on the ground
it's poetry in motion
I'll swim across this desert sand
pretending it's the ocean
It's hard enough to be yourself
Why would you even try to be somebody else?

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
I bet you never spoke at all
So, who's the fairest?  I suppose we'll never know
I'd like to meet that girl they say was made of snow
