The Look

Second demo of “No Mind”. Refined vocals. Slightly remixed, added a guitar solo. Might add some very light percussion, might make an alternate version with drums, but it feels nearly perfect now, aside from some awkward vocals.

This song speaks to someone about something. I just don't know what. The drums are also more gooderer on this one.

09 Fall Away

You Can't Even Get Lost In This Town Anymore is a collection of songs that are about trying to get away from the familiar and being stuck in it. It is meant to be an EP, starting out with a midtempo title song and getting a little reflective, and then breaking out on the second half with "Get Lost", an uptempo number that's probably the closest I'll come to writing a Foo Fighters song.

In any case, this EP is one step away from release, one song will be modified but I've done some extensive remixing. I've tried to even out the instrumentation so the drums are more dynamic and drive the songs more. I don't know if I achieved that goal without making the songs a little more compressed than I have previously, but I've also got limited time, equipment, and energy to work with.

I Don't Want To Fall In Love (You Can't Make Me)

Fast-paced rocker, it would almost be a reprise of the title track but for the frenetic pace and more intense mission statement.

Get Lost

Title track of the album (obviously) - this song is incredibly personal to me, I've been working on it since 2016, and whereas I wrote a song two months ago that made me smile in the car after mixing it for the "final" time, I've just now had that moment with this track in Dec 2019. It's an atmospheric song, with big drums and stacks of guitars. I'm hoping you enjoy it.

This is pretty much the final mix. I've done a lot of work on making the drums sit right in the mix and to get the guitars tonally where I want them.

Red Light is about a car wreck. I wrote an intense guitar song with lots of little lead flourishes and lyrics about blood and sirens flowed into the "notes" app on my phone. This song is another one of a few I'm particularly proud of, mostly for the build and the intensity.

This, from voice memo to current incarnation has been a month in the making. This is a preview of the album I'm starting work on while I'm "mastering" the EP that will be released on 12.25.2020. The lyrics are kinda goofy, the chorus has some fun backing vocals and the guitar solo is temporary. Let me know what you think.

Setting Sun (Demo)

This track was written around January 2021, the lyrics are kind of a rumination in a generic sense of how I felt about our country at the time, but again, I don't take my songwriting too seriously. I wanted to "release" this song first as it's very different to most of the material on this EP, and I don't want it to be missed, as I'm pretty happy with how it came out, for a song written in about a half hour.
