Ana Tijoux
Ana Tijoux (born in 1977 in France, daughter of Chilean exiles) is one of the most influential voices in contemporary Latin American music. Her style blends hip hop, conscious rap, and Latin American roots, with lyrics charged with social critique, historical memory, and cultural affirmation. From her beginnings with the group Makiza to her solo career, she has built a body of work that fuses rhythm and poetry with strong political and human commitment.

1997
“1997” is one of her most personal songs. In it, Tijoux returns to her intimate story, reflecting on childhood, displacement, and the scars of exile. With a melodic and confessional tone, the song connects the biographical with the universal, showing how music can be a space for healing, remembering, and resisting. Listening to it is stepping into the memory of an artist who understands creation as an act of identity and truth.
