For the past fifteen years Argentinian-born, Barcelona-based producer Juan Pablo Pfirter has been pushing a sound by turns steely, dark and uplifting, true to the founding principles of the techno tetramorph but eager to throw his own vanguard, personal touch into the mix.

From the early days onward, whether expressing himself via DJing, producing or as a label owner, Pfirter has worked his magic with focus and style, gracing the likes of CLR, Figure, Mord and Stroboscopic Artefacts with choice singles whilst headlining some of the most respected electronic music bastions and events including Berghain, Tresor, Concrete, Awakenings and Time Warp. Ever since he embarked on his first European tour back in 2005, Juan Pablo has worked tirelessly at shaping one of the most idiosyncratic sounds in contemporary electronic music. It’s a sound which combines the heavy thump of stadium-sized kicks with textured organic relief and hypnotic sub-bass motifs a thousand listens couldn’t diminish.

2006 saw the birth of Pfirter Own imprint, MindTrip, which has become one of the brightest beacons in the ever-changing techno landscape.The label serves as both a vessel for his own output and that of his close friends and collaborators, including luminaries such as Jonas Kopp, Stanislav Tolkachev, Dold, Kashpitzky, Oliver Rosemann and Flug. In parallel, MindTrip has also flourished through its monthly podcast series, welcoming the likes of Antigone, The Lady Machine, TWR72, Nørbak, Jeroen Search and more exciting, singular artists, all invited to present an session of music that captures the spirit and values of MindTrip.

Milena Glowacka is a vinyl-only DJ, producer and liveact performer. Based in central Europe, a female pioneer of the polish techno scene. Plays regularly in Germany and appeared four times in the legendary Tresor club in Berlin. Her tracks are full of trippy techno and muddy atmosphere in which you can easily get lost. Her original, unique production style resulted in multiple collaborations with Semantica Records and vinyl releases on labels such as Delirio, about:blank, Inner Tension and Monday Off. In DJ sets, she is an uncompromising vinyl lover, combining a selection between trippy techno and hypnotic, dance floor sounds, often intertwining them with intensive, groovy techno accents.

Lindsey Herbert joins for DifferentSound Podcast #256.

This set was recorded live in Phoenix on December 1st alongside DVS1 for Techno Snobs AZ.

A forceful name throughout the Southwest for fans of trippier techno styles, Lindsey Herbert spread her influence throughout the region, consistently appearing beside A-list names in the busy scenes of LA and San Francisco from 2015 to the present.

A resident first of Robot Ears and now Direct to Earth, San Francisco’s most important events for true techno, she likewise appears for top- flight LA promoters like Observe, Synthetik Minds, 6AM, and others, steady domestic and international headlining dates, and is currently cultivating the scene deeper south and west following her move to Phoenix as a resident of Techno Snobs.

Making her solo production debut in 2019 on LA’s Ascetic Limited, she’s since doubled down on releases, with recent drops on US underground stalwarts Truncate, 4-Trk Recordings, Blank Code,  Northern Parallels and Crisis of Man, as well as more European and South American imprints centered around hard strains of techno: Noise Manifesto, Planet X, NECHTO, Suara, TMM Records, Gomboc, Seclusion, Granular Spectrum, CommonSense to name a few, plus more to come!

Vertical Spectrum kicking off our new live cast series focused on mixes recorded at Refractiøn events with his spectacular 2 hour set in Olsztyn, Poland at Futro on 04.11.23.

bio : 

Vertical Spectrum is the latest project of the polish producer from Silesia, whose stage activity began in 2000. Over this time, his musical variations and constant passion, which he manifested under various alter egos in the past, also playing as a live act, led to create this brand. First official EP under name Vertical Spectrum was released in 2015. and after following several subsequent releases, he received an offer to record his first vinyl for the german Nachtstrom Schallplatten label, for which he released 5 vinyls so far, including 1 album. As a result was he was able to cooperate with many legendary names, crowned with remixes of top names such as Alexander Kowalski, Patrik Skoog, Abstract Division, Developer or Ben Gibson and others. Right after he received an offer to join other well known and respected brands including Dynamic Reflection, Tsunami Records, belonging to the spanish legend Christian Wunsch or Granulard Records from under the sign of 1/2 Exium duo. In 2018 he received offers to release his music on Pole Group label lead by the legendary Oscar Mulero, and as a result he appeared on Unknown Landscapes compilation, mixed by Lewis Fautzi.

His productions are undoubtedly appreciated by many great artists in the world and he is not a rare guest in the sets of such an appreciated names as: Blawan, Ben Sims, Paula Temple, Oscar Mulero, Chris Liebing, Dave Clarke, Headless Horseman, Marco Bailey and many others. The year 2021 was another milestone in his career, which resulted in deeper cooperation with representatives of leading techno brands in the world. As he joined: - Warm Up (Oscar Mulero) - Semantica (Svreca) - Mord (Bas Mooy) - Edit Select (Edit Select) - Faut Section (Lewis Fautzi). In 2022 he would continue collaboration with top brands and release for Mord Records or Edit Select, just to name a few. In addition to numerous performances at recognized events in his native Poland, he also had the pleasure of performing in Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Tresor club in Germany.

New York City-based BRÄLLE is a creative project born out of both fear and necessity. Prior to emerging on the techno scene with 2017’s ‘Dream State’, BRÄLLE had already spent nearly a decade composing albums and relentlessly touring globally in the underground Death Metal and Hardcore scenes. After leaving that world, the insatiable urge to create visceral and emotive productions did not fade, and as a result, BRÄLLE was born. This history has given the producer a unique perspective on the current global scene, highly removed from the cliques and trends that dominate the culture. The sound of BRÄLLE is swarming, psychedelic, and undeniably modern.
