2014 saw Steyoyoke Recordings put the finishing touches to their artist roster and the label is now experiencing an ongoing creative continuum, bringing Steyoyoke to its current state of musical solidarity. ‘Family Affair Vol.04’ is a testament to this, as it provokes new inspiring ways for the artists to inspire and influence each other. Split across two separate releases, Part 1 and Part 2, “Family Affair Vol.04’ comprises of 9 remixes, which sees all the Steyoyoke artists adding their own personal flavours to some of 2014’s biggest tracks.

Part 1.
Soul Button’s remix of ‘First Glimpse’ by Aki Bergen is the curtain raiser. Possessing a little more energy than the original, this remix boasts an alluring new intensity and vibe. It is captivating and uplifting.
Next up, is Aaryon’s remix of Soul Button & Talul’s ‘Chasing Thoughts’. Building upon the intricate layers already existing within the original, Aaryon intertwines edgier synth flurries and a more sinister bass line.
‘Hydra’ by Animal Picnic is remixed by Nick Devon, who chooses to focus on the originals unyielding drive. Nick really draws out the true ruthlessness of this track, with techno influences infiltrating this remix from start to finish.
Dahu takes on the remix of Aki Bergen’s ‘Helix’ and he customises it with some menacing elements. He does however maintain the originals “raw minimal techno groove” and garnishes this with industrial style accents.
The final track on Part 1 is Ran Salman’s version of ‘7th Heaven’ by Soul Button. Opting for a slightly punchier sound, Ran enlivens his remix by incorporating a few extra synth riffs and a bouncer bass line.

The talented NYC DJ and producer James Gill makes a welcome return to Sudbeat boasting 3 new gems, all oozing of goodness. 
The title track 'Illogical Vibe' is deep and deadly, with a restraint about this, that works so well on this dirty ditty.
'Before The Fall' is a deep workout, undulating as its slowly pushes things along, with clever vocal effects and crisp percussion carving the way, as its simplicities become its complexities. 
Rounding things off we find the mesmerising 'From Here To There', an infectious little number, that grooves along, and subtly works its way under your skin, with its brooding bass and layered melodics that effortlessly work their way in to the track, meeting delayed pads and nice fx, generating a heady mix that does the business on the dance floor.

'What the hell is going on here?', you ask yourself after a few bars listening to „Devil" - the name says it all! With united forces, Betoko, Rafael Cerato and Liu Bei created a magical, fancy and touching Tech-House-piece, which succeeds in realising the rare fusion of functional track and classical song literally weightlessly. The emotional singing of Liu Bei floats over a subtle synthy arpeggio, which astounds us by its unusual metric: It is partly in five-four meter and also transports something unearthy, supernatural.
Dubmix and Instrumental certainly turn the energy screw towards club use, but also keeping the mystical atmosphere. And with „Abrazo" finally comes a cool B-Track by the producer team Betoko & Rafael Cerato, reminding on 80s-synthpop highlights. The two guys have some more in common besides their cooperation: Both already released solo projects on Einmusika, Diynamic and Get Physical. Mexican born Betoko lives in London, where he also runs his labels OKO Recordings and Chilli Mint Music. 2012 he had a massive hit on Diynamic with "Raining Again". Rafael Cerato lives and works in Aix en Provence, Liu Bei again also in London.

For many years Re:Fresh Your Mind (R|Y|M) has been a pillar of subcultural development in the Rhine-Main area and on a national level mainly focusing on event organization. Though the events have expended lately not only in Frankfurt but also on a national level due to its musical diversity and generally speaking because of its openness towards changes in the scene.  Understandably Re:Fresh Your Mind is conceived as a platform for a subcultural exchange between artists and music lovers initiated by SKAI and his Re:Fresh family, which include a few well respected DJs. With the label-launch of R|Y|M Records earlier this year Re:Fresh Your Mind-basis enhanced its reputation in the scene and takes another step in its development. Therefore, Frankfurt based SKAI teamed up with Gorge, who is well respected for his solo-productions and of course his works with Nick Curly.
