Nice composition. I like the kick sound, although the hat is a bit too harsh for my ears, could perhaps tone down resonance a bit?

The music is nice enough but the mix is not, to my ears anyway. Percs sound way too loud to me. Kick and tom are very distracting because of it, imo. Well designed though, those drums. I'm also getting the imprsssion that the use of delay is causing a bit more combfiltering than is pleasing.

I think the mix could benefit from bit more stereo spreading. But hell I love the composition!

I have to agree that this track would have benefited by the kick being  lower in the mix to allow the other elements to shine through.

on my taste one of the best harmonic progression of this month. if only it was a little brighter and more stereo spreaded...

One Synth Challenge #158: Surrealistic MG-1 Plus by Cherry Audio

For KVR's Once Synth Challenge. KVR OSC 158. All sounds made with Cherry Audio's fantastic free plugin: Surrealistic MG-1 Plus.

The original Radioshack MG-1 happens to be the first synthesizer I ever owned, and it's what I first learned synthesis with. I sold it a couple of years ago, which I now somewhat regret. However, the plugin is amazing and it exceeds the original in many ways!

Various_Waves - My First Synthesizer

KVR Audio One Synth Challenge:  All tracks have to be done with the same synth, as directed.  This month (April 2022):  The Surrealistic MG-1 Plus.

This challenge hits close to home, because my first synth was the Radio Shack MG-1, which I bought with telemarketing money I earned from Kreepy Krauly in 1983 (pictured in synth photo).  Back then, for me, it was always a one-synth challenge every day, because it was all I had!  I created multi-tracks by recording onto cassette, overdubbing to reel-to-reel, and reversing the process.  

Track created in Apple Logic Pro, using 36 instances of the Surrealistic MG-1 Plus plug-in.  Only effects (all native) were EQ on a few tracks, along with some touches of distortion and parallel compression.

This has inspired me to release an album of tracks I made with just the MG-1 Plus, along with some old cassette copies of tracks I made with my MG-1, back in the early 80's.
