About Madi Simmons:

"I was born in the states and I began my music career at the age of 16. I started playing drums and singing backups in a garage band. I was always drawn to music that had a message.

My influences at that time were, CURTIS MAYFIELD, JAMES BROWN, MARVIN GAYE, ARETHA FRANKLIN & NINA SIMONE.

I read the teaching of Mr.Marcus Garvey, Mr MALCOLM X, to name a few, and in the late 70's onwards, was exposed to Reggae.

IT WAS AND IS A REVELATION FROM ON HIGH and the artists that influenced me are BOB MARLEY, PETER TOSH, LINTON KWESI JOHNSON, BURNING SPEAR, to name but a few.

The songs I write and sing are from my heart, as I have been taught...I wish for my works to talk for me..I can walk the walk on my own...RASTA IS MY PASSION, NOT A FASHION

Steve Terry started out DJ'ing during the early '90's at raves and club nights in the UK. He later started promoting parties in East London like the disco loft party Let it Happen and balearic meet up the Afternoon Sessions. 

These days he is publisher at Wild Life Press an independent imprint focused on releasing books and catalogues on underground culture from hippies to house music!

Alongside the publishing Steve is a collector of nightclub memorabilia and owns what is likely the largest private collection in the world covering disco, house, techno, soul and balearic artifacts. He curates exhibitions and contributes to various institutional shows around the world.

The mix serves as a reflection of the bittersweet notion of change - the heart of an autumn sunset scene. Summoning the warmth of the summer day before, and the shimmering of the winter stars yet to come. The tunes within move gently through the seasons and through the inevitable turmoil of a changing landscape with a distinct assuredness in the power and beauty of life. It will take you there.

Sentinel Sound - Dancehall Mix Vol 32 – Conscious Selection – Skankin` Sweet

You can't seperate Reggae and Dancehall from one another – they have always been two sides of the same medal.

However it's a fact, that ,for the last few years, Dancehall has been dominating the parties, the charts, and the radio stations.

That is also the reason why Sentinel put their famous „Conscious Selection" mixtape on pause for a year.

Right now, with a bigger pool of songs to choose from, the crew from Stuttgart released a brandnew One Drop version of their „Dancehall Mix" series, called „Skankin' Sweet".

The superb title track by Modern Roots superstar Chronixx is part of a formidable selection of Roots-, Lovers- and Reality-tunes by artists such as the legendary crooner Jah Cure or the highly talented newcomer Mortimer.

The 32nd edition of the „Dancehall Mix" is a great example of the immortality of classic Reggae music, but it's also a reminder, that, in our hype-addicted world, great music doesn't always get the recognition it deserves.
