Afrobeat comes from dancehall? This is a myth. The Nigerian Fela Aníkúlápó Kuti (15 October 1938 – 2 August 1997) is regarded as the pioneer of Afrobeat, an African music genre that combines traditional Yoruba percussion and vocal styles with American funk and jazz.  The first modern (100% digital) afrobeat tune is « Hi-Life » by Wally Badarou, released in 1984! Considered as the first dancehall riddim, « Sleng Teng » was released one year later in 1985.  The digital afrobeat took its drum pattern from the Congolese dance music called « sebene » that emerged in 1969, created by the famous band Zaïko Langa-Langa. This group is still alive!

The jamaican artists are hyprocrites. They say they dont stand for certain tings but then every American rapper is their “brother”. Those same “brothers” endorse certain lifestyles that they say that they dont agree with.
