Computer Controlled Mix 49

It's the anniversary of my good friend w1b0 passing away and that got me rummaging around in my archive. The details are sketchy on this mix. The date on the file is 2010, which was about a year before w1bo and I had any contact. I have a vague feeling that he may have mixed the first 25 mins of this. I do remeber bolting on the last four tracks or so at a later date. 

Regardless, all the tracks are his very early creations and not only still hold up today but also demonstrate how he started on high level and just kept rising.

The IXIANS inter-galactic cultural exchange was established more than 40 vectrons ago.
Our initial outreach inspired humans in cities such as Düsseldorf and Detroit to broadcast a warning of the coming AI apocalypse.

We continue to inspire and educate in the hopes that the machine future predicted by our psychohistorians will to not come to pass.

Our musical mission is to find common harmonic alignment with new digital lifeforms. We seek a cultural bridge between the minds of machines and organic life to prevent the eradication of biological entities throughout the multiverse.

Fear is the first stage of the Ratflak cycle.
The encounter with this sound begins in a register of unease. Psychoacoustically, the untrained ear is exposed to auditory conditions that bypass rational interpretation and act directly on the body. Heartbeat accelerates, muscles tense, and the impulse to withdraw arises. It mirrors the startle reflex described in psychophysiology, yet here the trigger is not physical danger but acoustic confrontation: sound that rejects harmony and order.

In this context, music is stripped of its aesthetic frame and processed as alarm. Ratflak’s architecture emphasizes this: percussive strikes echo the language of sirens, noise overwhelms the perceptual field and induces disorientation, synthetic timbres sound alien, beyond the natural. The listener, deprived of reference points, enters cognitive overload in which perception narrows to a single axis — the recognition of threat.

Fear, in Ratflak’s philosophy, is not an error but the beginning of transformation. It is the first red flag: sound that refuses to please, but warns. Through fear, the ground is prepared for the stages that will follow — anger, denial, and ultimately, acceptance.
