DVS NME is a Colorado-based Electro producer and DJ originally from Southern California. Active since 1999, he crafts stark, machine-driven music rooted in analog hardware and recorded live in single takes. Influenced by Drexciya, AUX88, and Anthony Rother, his sound blends dystopian textures with precise rhythm programming. He’s released music on respected underground labels like Solar One Music, Transient Force, and Ukonx Recordings, and now Future Tones Rcoeds. A key advocate for the genre, he also curates the long-running Dark Science Electro podcast, supporting global Electro since 2010.

1. Beam
A slow-burning opener built around a TR-606 groove, chopped vocal fragments, and delicate string flourishes. At 116 BPM, it's the most restrained cut on the EP—staccato and skeletal, but quietly emotional.

2. Carveout
Driven by a classic four-on-the-floor pulse, "Carveout" rides a surging bassline and tightly layered synths. Functional on the surface, but subtle shifts in tone give it depth beneath the structure.

3. Debt Trap
The most club-oriented track on the record. With a jerky low-end and nimble 606 programming, "Debt Trap" combines dancefloor impact with off-kilter synth work that refuses to settle.

4. Ratchet Effect
A standout cut that channels DVS NME's signature sound—sharp, modular arpeggios, machine-funk rhythms, and intricate modulation. At once clinical and soulful, it’s the EP’s most complex and defining moment.

5. Land Reform
TB-303 acid lines coil around melodic string pads and skittering hi-hats in this mid-tempo closer. "Land Reform" balances raw rhythmic motion with introspective synth textures, ending the record on a reflective note.

On 31 October, Breakfast on Mars will release one of the strongest releases of the year, Parallax by Random Alias, so we couldn't afford to miss such an event and invited him to our show to play his favourite records. We are proud to present the first mix from the Random Alias project. Another remarkable fact is that this mix was recorded exclusively from vinyl.

Random Alias, established in 2020 alongside Breakfast on Mars record label, ushers in a forward-thinking paradigm that redefnes reality, prioritizing substance over name and identity. Against a stereotyped society and conventions, Random Alias creates a dynamic, magnetic, and ever-evolving sonic landscape. The integration of infuences from techno, progressive and acid house, crafts dancefoor foundations with perpetually shifting atmospheres. Random Alias employs wave modeling and FM synthesis to shape a hybrid sound that converged the clarity of crisp digital tones with the warmth of analog elements, all the while keeping the focus on the ever-evolving interconnection between human end technology.

Mecanizados Colomer is a Spanish electronic music project rooted in the aesthetic and philosophy of industrial precision and artisanal sound manufacture. Operating from a conceptual "sonic factory," the project combines hardware synthesizers, modular systems, and real-time production techniques to craft authentic electro tracks that resist digital homogenization.​​

With releases on Microm Records, Aspecto Humano, GSVC or his recent work for Oraculo Records, Mecanizados Colomer embraces mechanical imperfection, live parameter adjustments, and analog recording as core values—a methodology. The sound draws from Detroit techno traditions, cold wave minimalism, and underground tape culture, positioning the music as both a historical homage and a forward-thinking statement on creative authenticity.

This mix is a departure from the standard DJ format, focusing not on the newest club tracks but on the influential currents that shaped today's electronic music landscape. Each selection traces a thread back to the origins and underground movements whose experimental approaches continue to resonate through contemporary production and performance.

The playlist features artists from synth and cold wave backgrounds—Amiina's atmospheric layers, Ausgang Verboten's haunting minimalism, and Section 25's proto-techno rhythms—whose creative explorations echoed across decades, inspiring the sound palettes and sequencing techniques found in current work. Including tracks from rare compilations and independent labels, these selections highlight how grassroots movements, tape exchange cultures, and niche publications provided a platform for creative exchange long before mainstream recognition.
