The Night Mick j. stood up for Prince
Prince was the opening act for the  Rolling Stones at the LA Coliseum.  He was not well-known on the West Coast, and when he took the stage wearing a bikini top, G-String, & Black  Boots.  Some started shouting slurs at him, others were throwing bottles, and there was a chorus of loud boos  Prince walked off the stage and vowed he would never return. 

Mick Jagger knew he had to help Prince get back on stage, even after the traumatic event, or it could  ruin his career. Before Prince took the stage, Mick J. spoke to the audience in a way that felt like it was one-on-one. He told them how the experience really shook him up and rocked his confidence, and asked the audience if they liked what they heard, would they be willing to stand up and cheer? The audience. affirmed that they would, and Prince took the stage, played with power, precision, and emotion, and the crowd rose up to give him a standing ovation. 

[Verse 1]
He was the opener for the Rolling Stones,
 On the West Coast Prince was not well-known.
 He took the stage in trench coat, black boots, and G-String-bikini—
 The crowd raged, hurled bottles full-fling at this loco wah-hee-nee.

The exploding bottles and slurs of HATRED
 Were defiling the stage, a place Prince felt sacred.

He fled the stage, vowed to never return—
Mick J. rang, said, “There’s cheers, there’s burn.”

Mick talked to the crowd like it was one-to-one
and they finally realized what they’d done—

Two nights later, same coliseum stage,
 Prince shook hard, trapped inside that rage.
 Flashbacks hit like fists he couldn’t block,
 his chest was tight, heart ticking like a clock.

The fear came fast, the dread came slow—
 old ghosts whispered, “don’t you go.”

Then Mick walked in, said, “Kid, you’re not done yet,”
 “Don’t let their hate be the thing you let set.”
 “What Friday broke, tonight we make right,”
 “We’re taking back what’s yours under these lights.”

His voice cut clean through Prince’s fright—
 “No more running… stand and fight.”

 I’ll make damn sure they rise.”
 Prince nodded once, still terrified,
 but fire returned behind his eyes.

 that’s the night they all stood,
 the night Mick stood up.

Prince stepped out slow, the crowd fell quiet,

I sincerely thank everyone who supported us on SC with likes, encouraging comments and many wonderful feedbacks. My upload limit is almost reached. Perhaps I will return in 2026 as an Artist Pro, who knows :D

Some time ago I read in the newspaper that more than 1000 volunteers had offered to sign up for a one-way-mission to Mars. I wondered  what motivated these people to embark on such an adventure. This  led to the story "Journey of no return"!  H. Stytz set my lyrics to such beautiful harmonies and melodies that it was immediately clear that this should be produced as an anthem.´´
For almost one year we tried to offer the demoversion to  various recordcompanies and publishers...no success!
Now with the heip of Jerry P. and some of his magic tools I could realize my vision of what the song could have sounded like when produced in a professional studio . Despite of some freedom he had to strictly adhere to the original harmonies and melodies and keep the lyrics.
This song is dedicated to my family and some friends who supported us thru the ups and downs of the last 35 years.  
I hope some of the listeners here will like this version, too !

the other day, I put new strings on my old acoustic. a fiddly task I've always hated that becomes a most delicate pleasure when pain joins the reluctance, because arthritis is settling into the joints of my fingers, especially my thumbs. I try to ignore it vehemently and pretend that everything is running as smoothly as it used to when I play, even if it hurts. and it truly does! 

anyway, that's life. and compared to what others, such as our precious friends gary and terry reeves, have to go through, endure, and put up with physically and mentally, I can't complain at all! or, as with this piece, a little bit still far from despair.

I’ve been playing guitar since 16, learning by ear from records by Ted Nugent, Led Zeppelin, Heart, The Rolling Stones, and Steely Dan — Ibanez in hand, Fender Twin Reverb beside the stereo. 

I trained my ear by starting with the bass line and identifying major vs. minor movement to determine key and harmony.

I studied traditional modern harmony for four semesters, along with two semesters of piano. My final recital was the second movement of Beethoven’s Sonata No. 8 (Op. 13, “Pathétique”) — performed clean under pressure.

I later studied privately with a graduate of Dick Grove School of Music, where I finally understood how harmony, progression, and emotional intention fit together.

I’ve produced music since the four-track tape era (Fostex, Tascam), through ADAT systems and Mackie boards, into early Digital Performer — and now Logic Pro with UAD plugins.

Today, I write and produce across multiple styles, from blues and classic rock to R&B, funk, pop, dance, and reggaeton. AI tools like Suno have expanded my stylistic range dramatically.

Currently studying advanced harmonic writing inspired by Steely Dan.

Always evolving.
