In October of 2021 I was given the opportunity to craft a 30 minute mix for Rene LaVice's pivotal drum and bass mix show on the UK's legendary BBC Radio 1. Somewhat unlike my other mixes I decided to take this one in a deep future funk direction with much less emphasis on dancefloor tunes. The final product was hopefully something that sounded good on the radio and also appealed to a wide variety of forward thinking listeners. 

It's a quick one for sure...and I hope you enjoy!

May 19th 2019 - The Destroyer ascends the steps to the fabled Basspod at Electric Daisy Carnival to deliver a carpetbomb of  100% unadulterated drum and bass napalm upon the assembled masses. Track after track after straight fucking triple drop continuously craters the crowd into a vast smoking ruin. 

News reports later confirm there were no survivors.

2020 certainly has been a test for us all. An overwhelming amount of negativity from every conceivable direction has left us spent. The shining beacon of joy for many of us, music, dancing and spiritual communion, has been stripped from us and we've watched our thriving industry collapse. The art of DJing is a very special one, and an art rapidly being lost in this disposable world meant for immediate consumption. I've always treated DJing as sonic storytelling, a way to communicate things we cannot say but all feel. The appeal of a rave for me is the communion that takes place between DJ and ravers, a synergistic feedback loop that sends an elevated, excited signal and receives structured yet free movement in response. Without one there is no other, a yin requires it's yang. 
But for nearly a year now we have been missing this communion, and desperately missing the stories of our co-creation. And so I was inspired to create a dance floor story, reminiscent of times we've gathered with reckless abandon to spin ourselves joyful, with a wink and a nod to the nostalgia for the raving of my youth. I hope you all can hear the story and feel inspired to move with joy, and experience a moment of self indulgent bliss...
