The 34th release of katharsis is the album “A Shifting Presence” by Belgian artist Lilac Pavilion. The album subtly explores a theme of seeing the beauty in the mundane resulting in unassuming gratitude for life's curious ways of dissolving our fixations and transforming the meanings of things. The existential curiosity of the artist is vivid in his fragmented, noisy and yet very clean sonic palette, but also reflected in the emotionally charged titles of the tracks of the album.

“A Shifting Presence” is Lilac Pavilion's most elaborate album to date, following his previous albums 'Concealing A Trace Of Exile' (2019) on the Australian label Vienna Press and 'Lure' (2018) on the Antwerp-based label Audio. Visuals. Atmosphere. On this novel album, Lilac Pavilion delves into a pristine and digital expression, moving a tad away from his earlier more rough and tape-influenced soundscapes, though still containing a special kind of aural rawness.
