Bart Skils returns to Drumcode with his third solo release, ‘Shadowprint’. Consisting of Bart’s famous rolling drums and bass rhythms he has crafted an EP that is exceptionally functional. With each track Bart has added character by introducing vocals, interesting melodies and deep percussion to keep it interesting. The EP is made up of 3 peak time tracks that are eloquently put together. ‘My Part Of Town’ is a bit deeper from Bart and contrast’s well to the rest of the EP with it’s melodic bass line.

When Sharam released his sophomore album Retroactive last year, we knew that some of the tracks needed to stand alone as singles, with remixers from some of the top names in house and techno to give them fresh, new dimensions. We begin our journey with the leading track “Arpi,” featuring two astounding remixes from Moonwalk and Dubspeeka and a new VIP mix from Sharam.

Moonwalk, fresh off a huge 2016 that saw releases on Stil Vor Talent and Diynamic among others, leave nothing to the imagination and dive headlong into a blistering remix that shows off the Italian duo’s studio chops. Punchy drums and a relentless, arpeggiated lead make their mix a bona fide heater on the floor.

Where Sharam’s original opts for big, bold arrangement, Dubspeeka (working here under his guise dubspeekaRMX) strips down everything to a raw, skeletal techno groove that paints Arpi’s melancholic lead over a canvas of brooding drums and bass. The result is an eerie, beautiful remix that leaves one with a concrete sense of longing.

Brazil-born, Barcelona-based DJ and producer ANNA has garnered international accolades from Mixmag, BBC Radio 1 and others with recent releases on the likes of Diynamic and Turbo Recordings. But her skill set reaches far beyond the studio realm as 2017 marked her busiest year to date. Beyond a whirlwind of festival appearances (including Movement and Awakenings), ANNA had the opportunity to perform at iconic clubs such as DC-10 and Fabric. 
This passion for the dancefloor was fuelled by a youth spent in the DJ booth of her father’s night club – and it now leads to her first outing with Kompakt: SPEICHER 101 carries the DNA of both the studio head and the club dweller, crafting two propulsive, massive belters out of simple, but effective ingredients. HIDDEN BEAUTIES dominates the A-side with raw bass power and sizzling drops of acid, while the flipside brings you THE DANSANT, one of these spiralling minimalistic techno bangers that just seem to grow indefinitely. The release is also a personal milestone for ANNA, as Kompakt’s records have always been a staple in her sets: “I have so many records from Kompakt, I’ve had them since I started, and even though I played so many different styles through the years, I can safely say that Kompakt has always been in my crate.” Her very own release on the label, however, seemed “like a distant dream”, she says. Turns out it wasn’t that distant after all – thanks to her knack for seriously catchy techno with a punch, nurtured by hard work and persistent focus. A perfect fit for Speicher.

After 7 years of chart topping hits covering an array of genres, Pleasurekraft have announced the release of their debut album "Friends, Lovers, & Other Constellations" set for release on 23rd February.

Whether treading into electronica with the album's existential bookends; "Interiors" and "Last Transmission", or flexing big-room techno muscles on "The Day the Earth Stood Still" & "Rigel", there is an indelible fingerprint throughout the 11 tracks that merits continuous listens to reveal its multi-layer depth. Klangkuenstler first made his debut on our SUM 5 VA with his massive track ‘Continuum’ and now returns for his first solo outing on Second State with two absolute bombs primed for decimating any dance floor they encounter.

‘Razor’ kicks off the EP in a concept where fierce, rapid drums and 90’s inspired leads result in a nostalgic yet modern twist to a timeless idea. The title track ‘Dunkle Illusion’ initiates the B-side by utilizing an ominous acid line with sinister intent slithers between racing percussion creating an undeniably wicked atmosphere. Wrapping up the short player is Alignment’s remix of ‘Dunkle Illusion’ which sees the original reworked into a powerful display of devilish melodics while never losing the intensity and force of the original’s character. This EP perfectly blends Techno with Rave sounds, and there is no better way to welcome Klangkuenstler to the Second State family.

“When I started to work on this track, I could not envision how it would turn out, I was just making it, bit by bit. After doing the first beats, I made the bassline using Reaktor. The sound and the sequence reminded me a bit of the old school stuff from The Hacker and David Carreta and the idea of inviting Kittin to do the vocals came to mind. She said she loved the track and she was gonna do the vocals and the result could not be better. I am a huuuge fan of hers going back many years and I have a lot of her records from when I started playing, right through to her recent productions. I remember when she went to Brazil about 15 years ago to play at one of the most loved clubs there at the time called Lov.e. I could not be there but I saw her on TV when she gave an interview on one of the country’s biggest channels. I vividly remember calling all my family to see it – I felt a huge admiration for her, her music, her style and everything about her. And I still do! I was a 17-year-old living in the Brazilian countryside at the time watching one of my idols on TV and could never have imagined that one day we would be doing a track together. As one of the most heavily supported and best-sold techno producers of the moment, notorious for his powerful live performances at renowned festivals and clubs, Reinier Zonneveld is currently taking over the contemporary scene with his unique view on techno. In spite of his young age, Zonneveld already managed to score several charting hits, including Beatport overall no.1 “Things We Might Have Said”, which was included on his well-received artist album “Megacity Servant” and later on landed in a Hollywood production. 
Born in the Netherlands on the 30 January 1991, Zonneveld’s introduction to music was through classical piano lessons from the tender age of three. In his youth, Reinier started to compose classical music pieces and performed piano concerts by himself. But it was only when he started his university studies in econometrics and finance and after attending his first illegal raves, that Reinier Zonneveld began exploring music production by way of electronic means. Spending all of his student’s allowance on his first synthesizers during his university time, Zonneveld managed to teach himself his outstanding production skills in his student dorm. 
At the end of 2015, after he completed his two master’s degrees, Zonneveld decided to dedicate all of his time and effort to his ever-growing passion: producing and performing techno music. Soon after, his tracks got picked up by some of the biggest names in the scene, followed by releases on Oliver Koletzki’s Stil vor Talent, Carl Cox’s Intec, Richie Hawtin’s Minus and two official remixes for Moby. 
With his productions and live-sets influenced by both, Zonneveld’s classical background and his own rave experiences, it’s no surprise that his sound contains an incredible breadth, ranging from deep melodic tracks to pounding warehouse acid techno. 
Zonneveld’s musical talent truly shines through in his live performances as he manages to craft hits, both old and new, live on stage. This extraordinary talent enables Reinier to perform a unique all-night live-set on the spot, while creating explosive moments on the dance floor. 
Only just starting his career, Zonneveld has already performed on all continents, from main stages to underground clubs, leaving a thrilled crowd on each dance-floor. If not on the road, Zonneveld tries to find time in his fully-booked tour schedule to create tracks and further hone his skills in the studio, with the experiences and influences gained from his performances and travels as a constant source of inspiration. 

Next to performing and producing music, Reinier runs his own well-received label Filth on Acid, which was founded in early 2017. Filth on Acid will fully enable Zonneveld’s creativity and serves as a platform for his wide view on techno music. All being said, it’s apparent that Reinier Zonneveld will further influence today’s global techno scene with his unique productions and dance floor-shaking live-sets for years to come. It’s just the beginning...
